  1. Yes, I would like to do that too, but no way AFAIK... ☹️
  2. Connecting with RDP does indeed create a new desktop altogether...each instance of it creates a new one with blank desktop.... πŸ‘ it’s totally confusing compared to using VNC or teamviewer which just shows the same desktop...
  3. I wouldn’t keep it sealed all the time, as any air in there could condense and cause condensation on the inside and lead to mould, use a desiccant cap, made for this, they slot in where an eyepiece would go and keep dust out and also any moisture will be eradicated....πŸ‘πŸ˜€
  4. I’m sorry, but I disagree, for the money you pay, it should be far better than that, a few very small particles..yes, buts that is not a few small ones, it looks hideous...and totally unacceptable in my book... sorry but my opinion... πŸ‘πŸ˜€
  5. That’s terrible...I would be sending that straight back...I have scopes 15 years old with less dust than that inside...and if it’s between the glass elements, then that’s even worse...I would not bank on a quick reply from SW either, I have an issue with a mount, and have been messaging them for months, as I have to wait at least four weeks for a reply to each of my emails... 😑😑
  6. You will be getting 2x ASI120 mini’s, is that correct...? πŸ˜€
  7. Great... I think the confusion is, that the only difference between between the ACF and the yours, is the flatter field optics......all else is the same...so the same handset will work on them both... πŸ‘
  8. Here you go, this will work with yours... πŸ‘πŸ˜€ as long as yours is the GPS model, and not the classic....(non GPS) πŸ‘ http://www.opticstar.com/Run/Astronomy/Astro-Accessories-Telescopes-Meade.asp?p=0_10_5_1_6_504
  9. TBH, I never use the very latest versions of SM or AB, as there are usually bugs, in Kstars or Indi for some months after release, But they do always get sorted in the end, so I stick one version behind, which seems to almost guarantee a stable system....πŸ‘πŸ˜€
  10. There is some simple code that you input at the terminal that sorts out static ip addresses, it’s very simple on SM there is an actual tool for it that takes a few seconds to sort, I thought AB had the same feature....πŸ‘πŸ˜€
  11. Serial Port Assistant ensures that your serial device designations are saved permenantly. When you plug your mount, it is assigned a random port (e.g. COM2 or /dev/ttyUSB1). This port is required in order for INDI to communicate with your mount. Using the assistant, you can assign a permenant ID to your device (e.g. /dev/mount). Therefore, everytime you plug in your device, it is always assigned a designated port that INDI uses to communicate with the device. To use the Serial Port Assistant, go to StellarMate Web Manager either from StellarMate App or from any browser and click on the Serial Port Assistant Icon at the bottom right. Simply follow the instructions in the Step-By-Step guided wizard to assign permenant designations to your Serial-To-USB devices. Same for Astroberry too... πŸ‘πŸ˜€
  12. You need 9600 baude rate...? see here.. https://stellarmate.com/support.html?view=kb&kbartid=2
  13. Run the serial port mapper and set the serial ports...πŸ‘
  14. It was this comment was referring to... β€œWhen you want to use the PI in anger setup a profile for your physicals on both the Pi and the Mac (Mac being remote of course)β€œ The MAC would never be the remote device, unless you leave that out on the mount and control from another PC.... πŸ‘πŸ˜‰
  15. Yes, this is the way I run it, I have the PC Kstars version on my PC indoors, and the pi is on my mount with Stellarmate or Astroberry installed, and I select remote in ekos profile on the PC, and put the pi address in the box, stellarmate.local or Astroberry.local and then make sure the pi and your PC are on the same network or connect to the pi hotspot, and all done,... The other option is to run ekos from on the pi, then you would need to connect to the pi via VNC or teamviewer, which are both installed on Stellarmate, not sure about Astroberry, and control all from there....the PC then is just a viewer for the pi as all done on that... So the first option is the β€œremote” option, and the second is running it in β€œlocal” mode.... πŸ‘πŸ˜€
  16. If you are using in remote mode, that means that the pi is on the mount and you are connecting to that from your Mac, so the pi is the remote device, not the Mac, if you are running all the Kstars software on the rpi and just connecting to it with VNC from your Mac, that is local I think you got it the wrong way round.... Also you dont need a profile at all on the pi if you are running ekos from your Mac PC, as Kstars is not used on the pi and only on your Mac, in this setup the pi is just an Indi server and will start automatically when you start from ekos...
  17. I also have had a moonlite in the past, and they are in a much lower league than the FT, in fact pretty useless in comparison, I would only ever have a FT crayford... Not sure what does make the difference between the two, as the designs are very similar...but the FT does have a unique design where the bearings, smooth surface and focus shaft are all at the bottom of the focuser...πŸ€”πŸ€”
  18. Yes there Crayfords do...And they are excellent.... I had one and struggled to push it in with the brake set correctly, it really was quite superb, would have held 3-5kg easily, and with a motor fitted, more.. πŸ‘πŸ˜€
  19. I actually disagree...it’s the small diameter of tube filled with concrete, Added with the height, if that was solid, with no movement, then the rods would be fine....I have seen numerous piers built of solid steel with fins, and rock solid, with plates separated by that distance on m12 studs, and they are fine... πŸ‘πŸ˜€
  20. The smooth design works beautifully well on the Feathertouch range, with no slip whatsoever, and superb holding power too..... πŸ€”πŸ‘
  21. You will also find, as I did, that in the winter months It won’t vibrate anywhere near as much, it’s the heat that makes it far worse, when the plastic, concrete has cooled it will be much les prone to vibration..., and may be fine...πŸ‘πŸ˜€
  22. I made my first pier in the same way as yours, with 8” plastic pipe sunk into concrete, and also got vibrations if knocked...I cured by filling the tube with sand, instead of filling full of concrete...worked a treat... πŸ‘πŸ˜€
  23. I would get a Startech branded one...πŸ‘ Here you go https://www.amazon.co.uk/StarTech-com-USB-Serial-Adapter-Powered/dp/B004ZMYTYC/ref=sr_1_3?adgrpid=55904549511&dchild=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwsuP5BRCoARIsAPtX_wH6hiV-rranhDw5Au-sb7W3SKaEGPX3wd1xQBpXAVDNK3NShQ9g7FAaArYtEALw_wcB&hvadid=259088528854&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9046174&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=16166493371384529509&hvtargid=kwd-307981973170&hydadcr=4424_1795160&keywords=startech+usb+to+serial&qid=1597611475&sr=8-3&tag=googhydr-21
