Cleaning SCT corrector plate
Stuart1971 replied to Tenor Viol's topic in Discussions - Scopes / Whole setups
Hi, first of all put some bits of tape on the retaining ring and onto the inside edge of the tube so you can put it back exactly the same way, then when you remove that ring, but a mark on the edge of the glass and also on the inside of the tube, so you can put the glass in exactly the same orientation, there may well me a mark already on the glass as this is usually done when built. then there should be some small cork or maybe other material, packers around the glass, donโt loose these, and make sure you put them back evenly around the glass then holding the secondary housing remove the glass, but do this with the tube horizontal or slightly pointing down, so no bits go inside the tube, clean with a brand new untouched micro fibre cloth with Baader wonder fluid, spray it on and then gently wipe over until the liquid has evaporated... Then fit back by doing the reverse, it is very important to put all back in the same orientation as it was.... HTH ๐๐ -
Send it back and ask for a refund on the camera, you should not be expected to buy an a item and it not work....and then you have to start messing with it..... ๐๐ Those cameras are not easy to fix, and as you say not much, if any info online, and you could make it worse without correct info....

That weight will only work if you use a vixen type bar, it wonโt fit on a losmandy.... ๐ edit, the Losmandy version is the second one on the list marked as 3โ

Buying used equipment - pricing
Stuart1971 replied to Hoshii's topic in Getting Started Equipment Help and Advice
I am sorry but I completely disagree, an item can be used but still be in perfect condition...you just canโt expect to get a new price for it...I have a scope I bought secondhand and was not used much at all by the previous owner, and I am extremely fussy, when I went to see it, I inspected it all very very closely, and it was totally as new, and completely unmarked, not even a fingerprint on the tube, so it does happen, but I did only pay 70% of the new price.... ๐๐ -
No, thatโs deffo not an ETX60, itโs the DS....but not sure on aperture... And no the Aux is not for a phone, itโs for other Meade attachments, such as GPS and focuser modules..

I thought at first it was a new camera they had released, as they do a range of SV105, 205, and 305....
-
I think that is the same scope as RVO are now selling under there own name... Magbe not as thereโs is a 72mm, so ignore me, but seems good spec for the money....comes with an optical report too... ๐

Yes, do check, as they never have any items out of stock, ๐ค I fell foul of that, so I always ask now, and itโs amazing how many items they do not have in stock but have, according to the website...

Colimation with artificial star
Stuart1971 replied to Davey-T's topic in Discussions - Scopes / Whole setups
I thought that using this method you needed to be around 50-100 metres away... to get an accurate result, when they do it in workshops I would not think they use an artificial star method, but maybe a laser set up, that works very closely to the scope, but also very expensive.... ๐ค -

Trash to you, but very helpful to people in some far corners of the globe..... maybe put yourself in there shoes, and then see if you still think they are trash.... Dont get me wrong I am a lover of all things astronomy, and would rather they not be in the way of my sensor...but things move on... ๐๐

Are you sure that is Starlink, as they all in a single line..... ๐ค๐ค

We will agree to completely disagree on this then...๐๐

Yes, correct you can pay on collection, but via PayPal, that is what that means if agreed with buyer or seller....eBay will not promote the word cash anywhere, or endorse it as a way of paying.... I have just bought a bike, and when I collected I transferred the funds via PayPal at his house...simples... ๐๐ I am not saying you canโt Collect, Itโs just you should use PayPal so you are both covered...
-
Absolutely wrong and eBay will not encourage this, if you want to do it with your buyer or the person you are selling too, then itโs at your own risk, and eBay will not help at all if anything goes awry....trust me I found out the hard way.... There is an option for collection, absolutely, but there is no option whatsoever for cash on collection, sorry but you are wrong.... ๐ from the eBay site, like I said itโs at your own risk, it you canot advertise COC as itโs not allowed by eBay and is discouraged... In addition to PayPal or credit card, you can sometimes pay with an alternative payment method (as agreed with your seller) either beforehand, or when you pick up your item. Sellers may also accept cash for local collection purchases. Items collected in person are still covered by eBay Money Back Guarantee if paid for with PayPal, however eBay Money Back Guarantee does not cover cash on collection transactions, or transactions where the item was not collected by the buyer.
