  1. Brilliant Rob, well done, yes, it's so much better having taken it yourself.
  2. I done it all on my own John. My family are 500miles away in Scotland, lol. Did get four friends to help lift the dome on, no way could I have done that on my own, lol.
  3. Brilliant job John, I've got to do the same with mine but white, lol. It's such a lot of work getting a dome up and running, I'm constantly tired at the moment, took today off, lol. I don't think people appreciate how much work goes into it and mine is just manual.
  4. I've managed to see and image it twice a week ago then it's been cloudy since. Hopefully tonight and tomorrow is supposed to be clear. First time imaging a bright comet with a DSLR. This is what I got. Pretty pleased as it'll be another 6,800 yrs before it comes back, lol.
  5. Welcome to the forum, I used to live in Bristol but moved to darker sky. South of Bristol I could see the milky way just.
  6. Did some electrics and furniture added today. Put the mount plate in place just to see if it fits and ready for cementing in place.
  7. Brilliant Pete, great image's considering the altitude of both planet's.
  8. I got a manfrotto tripod for £30 for my LX2, used with a small wedge. Not used it much so far but got Neowise with it using a canon unmodded 700d and 70-300mm telephoto lens.
  9. Thanks Pete, night time imaging and processing is another set of skills I've yet to perfect so solar is my comfort zone, lol.
  10. Finally finished the flooring. As usual, inspected by the cat, lol.
  11. That made me smile, that is soooo true, lol.
  12. More flooring done today plus usb3 and mount wiring under floor. All watched by one of my cat's, lol.
  13. I just used the same hardware as before with plenty of grease when I refitted the wheels. Dome rotates a treat, better than before. Did the shutter rollers and added a roller each side of the middle of the dome shutter too. Made it slick to open now, again much better than before as I was struggling to close it. All manual, not motorised.
  14. I'm always hitting my head on the door frame but hasn't knocked any sense into me yet, lol
  15. Hi, I can see more detail using a mono camera on a laptop screen so that could be better for outreach, also more people can see at the same time.
  16. Welcome, don't rush Ian to buying a scope, if astro imaging is the road you take it can get astronomical, lol. Most of my kit is second hand and is 50% cheaper than buying new. Most people look after their equipment but seek advice first. Enjoy your hobby. Try grabbing a pic of the comet Neowise in wide angle with tripod and camera t the moment.
  17. Hi Nicolas, I've looked back through my image's because I thought I'd images the sun on the 5th July. This is what I got. Quite a bit of activity.
  18. Hi all, back into my comfort zone after imaging comet Neowise. Here are images from the 10th, 11th and 12th of July 2020. Struggled a little with the processing must have been because I'd changed to Deep Sky Tracker for the comet instead of Autostakker for Solar, lol. Lunt 60mm DS, Zwo Asi 178mm. Autostakker3, ImPPG and Phtoshop CS2.
  19. Hi all, a venture away from my comfort zone of solar imaging, lol. Comet F3 Neowise from last night. Unmodded canon 700d and 70-300mm telephoto lens set at 200mm, Omegon clockwork drive. Inverted one just for fun, lol. Deep sky stacker used to stack images. Each image 25sec @ iso800. Some cloud along the horizon that dissected the comet.
  20. I originally bought some of those but didn't fit my dome because the dome doesn't have an inner lip.
