  1. Excellent image, stunning. I clicked on the post link as i am imaging Orion in wide field tonight. Not quite how my image will look though
  2. I find a bottle of red wine helps keep out the cold. Unless of course that freezes then it definitely is time to go in.
  3. Is there a menu item for the image stabilisation that you can turn off as well?
  4. I start with a folder say named M31 Andromeda Galaxy. In this will be another folder for example called 25-12-2020 CLS Light pollution filter. Then in this folder will be a few folders called Lights, Darks, Bias, Flats and Processed. I sort out all the images into the relevant folders. Then the stacked image called Autosave (from DSS) goes in the Processed folder. From then on any exported processed images or GIMP files go in the Processed folder.
  5. Just been reading the article about this in sky at night magazine. With regards the lens which is best, the 4mm or 6mm?
  6. Using layers and masks in GIMP you basically select the middle area so that when you do your levels and curves it affects the image but not the selected centre region.
  7. I use this type on my guide scope and main scope. Powered off two Anker power banks. As the dew heaters are usb powered it makes them quite handy as all my rig set up is battery powered, most of which also have usb outputs.
  8. It gets worse. I have just taken the data off the memory card and I have star trails even on the few subs that I thought was good (not sure why, I did the usual test shots). Never mind I got some good data on the California nebula the day after. I will try again on the horse head soon.
  9. Lovely image. I too was out last night imaging the horse head. I managed 9 images all together. I went out after a while to check on the progress and noticed the framing was all wrong and now the image had lots of star trails. Strange I thought, so I turned off guiding and tried just a 30 second sub. Star trails again! Ah well looks like something has gone very wrong so I packed up. It was then in plugging cables I noticed the lead to the guide cam was very tight. It had managed to wrap it self round part of the mount. So this explains it then. At least I got a bit of data to process.
  10. I never thought of it like that. As I am using a star adventurer pro it does not track in the declination, hence why the Dec is turned off. So yes I think your right. Thanks.
  11. I am using an asiair pro with a ZWO120mm mini and zwo guidscope. I have no problem setting up the guiding and getting what I believe is a fairly good error. The question is after setting up the guiding on the guide star the cross hairs are crossed over the star. Over time the cross hairs move away from the star, progressively more so. This can be seen from the first picture to the second. Is this normal??
  12. This is the type I got for my canon 200D. I did not get it from here (amazon I think). https://www.subtel.co.uk/index.php?cl=details&offerId=5420371701&lang=1&anid=916620&cnid=6e17000500187291d07f3d04dae4fc49&campaign=co.uk-pla/KZ_Fernbedienung/916620
  13. I used to have a problem connecting to my canon DSLR using the app. It would sometimes work and other times not. There was a specific order of things to do to connect, not really that good. I then got an interveloper and that was a big blessing. Easy to use in the dark.l, and no daft connection problems.
  14. Yes that's the way to go for eye piece projection. I have one of those eyepieces (10mm I believe). I have only just tried getting focus with it connected to a DSLR (which it did). I have not tried imaging with it as this thread has just reminded me I actually have that eye piece!
  15. Thanks. I use GIMP so I assume I will be able to do that.
  16. It looks like the online article was written in August 2020. The actual article appeared in December's 2018 magazine.
  17. I found this online. Is this what you have seen? If so it says it appeared in December's 2018 magazine. https://www.skyatnightmagazine.com/advice/best-places-stargaze-spain/
  18. Are you sure it was August's issue? I have that in front of me and have looked through it but cannot see that article.
  19. Very nice image. I am looking to do something similar with Orion and other constellations. Can I ask what software you used to label the individual stars and draw the lines please.
  20. Very nice. I was wondering what to image next, you have given me a good idea.
  21. Hopefully yours will be delivered quicker than mine. I had to wait 8 weeks.
  22. North American nebula taken with a hydrogen alpha filter. 6 x 300" lights and 40 bias. Taken with a Canon 200D with Ha clip in filter, Samyang 135mm f2 lens on a star adventurer. Guided using a ASIAIR pro. Stacked in DSS and processed in GIMP. Originally took 34 lights but had to delete all but 6 due to cloud and dew.

  24. Thanks vlaiv. So do you mean I should not tick the decompose to layers option.
