  1. Yes I should have looked. The first line reads 'compatable with the new asiair' I feel a new purchase coming.
  2. When you say get the colour channels balanced, how would I go about doing that if you don't mind me asking.
  3. Thanks for that. It's this statement that confuses me 'it can not support ASI120MM/MC' But the asiair pro is being bundled with that camera??
  4. Thinking of swopping out my star adventurer pro for a sky watcher az gti. Might get a quick sale if the star adventurers are hard to come by
  5. Can anyone with a ASIAIR pro clear up a point for me. It's my understanding that the new asiair pro does not work with the zwo asi120mm camera as stated in their specification (being usb 2). But I have seen images of people's equipment in that it appears they are using this camera/asiair pro combination. There is even company's selling the asiair pro with a zwo asi120mm camera bundled together??
  6. Looks a nice neat solution. You will have to let us know how you get on with the ASIAIR connected to the star adventurer, (I am definitely interested as it's probably going to be my next purchase).
  7. Would this work? Would this fit on the underside of the L bracket.
  8. Well I think both of you have answered my question that I started in the star adventurer thread. I asked if the ASIAIR pro works with the 'newer' green type star adventurer. I take that as a yes then 🙂
  9. Very nice images. I have the same filter for my modified canon. I really need to start using it as it has only been in the camera once!
  10. Anybody using an ASIAIR pro with the star adventurer for both polar aligning and guiding? Watched a YouTube video earlier with the original ASIAIR (white one) and it connected to the red star guider pro. But it does mention it works with the star adventurer as well. So was just wondering if it still works with the new red type ASIAIR and the newer pro (green) star adventurer. For interest here is the video I mentioned
  11. Having a bit more of a read and seeing some examples on some photography blogs/forums I do like the look it gives. Basically talked myself into buying one. Worth a try I believe 🙂. I will of course post up my results, before and after.
  12. I get your point. If I was doing a nice wide field image then yes I would want pin point stars. But as a side project I am after emphasizing the constellation stars and from the looks of example images this filter should do the job.
  13. A little project if mine is taking images of the constellations. I have tried various methods in GIMP post processing to make the constellation stars stand out against the other stars. But I am not really happy with the results. I have seen images using a Tiffen Double Fog 3 Filter which looks like what I am trying to achieve. Has any one used one of these filters and more importantly how did you fit it in the image train?
  14. Nice image. I too have had clear skies the last couple of nights. Only problem is the full moon
  15. Wow I thought the little bit of light that gets into my garden was bad but looking at these photos I guess I can call myself lucky. There is someone about a street away that has an outside light high up on a pole that when on spills light into my extension. This is ok ish from a photography point of view it does ruin my night vision if I happen to look that was. I have had a walk round to see where the light was coming from and their neighbours must be very tolerant as the light was blazing away like the sun, lighting up their garden like it was the day time. Don't understand people like this. Ok if your sat out then yes have the lights on, but why have them on when your inside??? Helps the burglars locate the doors and windows I suppose.
  16. Just a point about stacking in DSS. The image it produces does in many cases look worse than maybe a single image you see on your camera view finder (or viewing a single image on your pc). DSS is just for stacking the images, you then have to use processing software such as GIMP/Photoshop etc to bring out the detail within the image.
  17. The 72ed comes as a sort of bare bones scope. By that I mean it does not come with any accessories to allow you to use it visually or for astrophotography. The idea being that you buy the extra bits you need specific to what you are doing with it. So to start with you have to deal with the focusing issue of your camera and the scope. For my Canon 200d this meant I did not have enough travel on the focuser (outwood travel) to able to get focus. This is overcome by using a field flattening/reducer. In my case I bought the OVL field flattener which is recommended any way to improve the image but also to give me that extra space between scope and camera to get the camera to focus.
  18. Thanks for that. Going to sit down and spend some time on this. Need to get the best out of it seeing as it was the only set of data I managed in my holiday.
  19. Thanks, i will take a look. I was planning on spending more time on it. I only spent 5 minutes on the levels and curves in gimp. After about the 100th image the moon started to come up so each sub after the 100th starts to get lighter and lighter. So i will probably cut back the amount of subs. Or can DSS determine the ones to bin???
  20. Although I believe my polar align was very good I was getting star trails at 60 second exposures. So I went with 30 second ones. I might try upping it to 45 second exposures and the next step I suppose would be guiding on the star adventurer.
  21. Here is my effort of M31. Taken from a bortle 3 to 4 sky whilst on holiday in Devon. Unfortunately I had only one clear night during the week and then only got an hour before the moon came into play. Canon 200D, sky watcher 72ED, star adventurer pro tracking mount. 131 lights taken at 30 second exposure @ iso 3200, 40 darks. Stacked in DSS and processed in GIMP. Looks like I over stretched the image so I need to have another go at processing this image, ah well.
  22. The camera I use is a canon 200d. This also needs a extension tube between the scope and camera to be able to get the camera to focus. I use an OVL field Flattener to achieve this extension. The tripod was not the same as the one you posted but very similar. I found that when I loaded the tripod up with the star adventurer, the scope, the camera and flattener, the red dot finder on my camera and the finder scope on the telescope the tripod then became very unstable and wobbly. I might add that I still use the original tripod if I am just imaging with the camera and say a 200mm lens. It works fine for this. I usually then keep the tripod legs short and hang a weight under the tripod.
  23. I have the top one and the bottom one. I soon upgraded my tripod to a skywatcher 1.75" tripod which feels like it could hold up an elephant. The original tripod I had would flex quite badly due to the weight of the scope, camera and tracking mount. If I used it with just the camera and tracking mount it was not so bad.
