  3. I have an ed72 but have not come across this problem. But thinking about it when I used to take darks I used to put a black pillow case over the camera/focuser end which maybe stopped the light leakage from happening?
  4. I sat wondering that. But I decided it was best to just order one and then wait. I think if you wait for them to be in stock you are going to be waiting a long time as I assume lots of people have ordered them. I am currently on week 14 of my wait!
  5. I would say for portability you cannot go wrong with a star adventurer pro. Power wise it works perfect with just the 4 double A batteries that it uses. These last ages. I have also coupled mine with a asiair pro, guide scope and camera, 72ed refractor, dew heaters and DSLR. This is all powered by battery packs of various types. Means the whole lot is portable.
  6. I agree. A nice balance between background sky colour and M27.
  7. Ah that explains the delay in my delivery as well. I think that's my HEQ5 pro just inside the door of the tent.
  8. My guiding seems to be getting slightly better each session. Last night it was going between 0.9" and 1.5". With the star adventurer balancing in RA is quite easy (depending on the payload combination) but not so easy in DEC I have found. But certainly the better overall balance that is achieved helps lower that RA error.
  9. Congratulations on your purchase. I am still waiting for my new mount (heq5 pro) been waiting over 3 months now
  10. Very nice image. I am looking to image this area tonight in Ha myself.
  11. I did a side by side comparison using my canon 200d. Processed both stacks (one did not have the darks included in the stacking). Processed both side by side using the exact same process. The result is I could not tell the difference between the two. So for me, my conclusion was I don't bother with darks any more, means I can get to bed quicker now
  12. I do not understand the question. What is supposed to have gone wrong??
  13. I cannot say I have seen the one from FLO. With anything like this you need to check the voltage your DSLR battery is then find the equivalent dummy battery and battery pack. For my DSLR there is a dedicated dummy battery that runs off 240v (obviously transformed down to the correct voltage). I then just looked for DC power packs with a dummy battery with outputted the correct voltage.
  14. The asiair has usb outputs and 12v outputs so it will not be suitable for your DSLR. Just get yourself a dedicated battery pack with the correct output and dummy battery and your DSLR will last all night. I got one from here. This is the battery pack http://www.exprodirect.com/ex-pro-on-the-move-16000mah-rechargeable-battery-power-system-replacing-for-use-with-ex-pro-coupler-system-for-canon-nikon-and-sony-dslr-cameras..html And this is the dummy battery to go with it http://www.exprodirect.com/ex-pro-canon-lp-e6-dr-e6-coupler-cable-for-ex-pro-rechargeable-battery-power-system.html
  15. Please don't feel like you cannot post your images here. My opinion is there are no good and bad images as long as you are happy with the result. I think I posted up an image straight away which was a one shot, with no particular processing of M42. I felt a great achievement that I had managed to focus the camera, frame the target and take a picture that showed more than I could see with my own eyes. By sharing images that you may think are not 'good' others may be able to offer advice on how to move forward. Just had a quick look and I have found one of my early/first images that I was proud to share on here
  16. I have the ISS live now app installed. It notifies me of any launches etc and has live video feeds of the events. I watched the launch then the next day watched the docking and arrival of the new crew. It always seems to be very good quality. Screen shot taken from the docking
  17. Sorry for the late reply. Thank you for explaining that. It's starting to make sense to me know.
  18. I think I get what you are saying. I assume as the 18mm is likely to take in more light pollution being as it is looking at a larger field of view. Hence the lower expire time I was experiencing. That's what you are saying isn't it 😁
  19. I left my camera running for about 4 hours ish. Captured 780 images. On those 780 images were 6 lyrids! But the amount of satallites was staggering. They appeared on 67 images. Lots of those looked like meteors as they suddenly flair/get brighter but checking on the next image the trail is still there only dimmer so definelty not a meteor.
  20. Just been through all 780 images and I have managed 6! The amount of satallites that appeared though, that was staggering. They appeared on 67 of the images. Quite a few were of the flairing type. Quite easy to mistake one of them flairing satellites for a meteor. But a quick look and they also appeared on the next image but dimmer so definelty not a meteor.
  21. ISS maybe. That travels in roughly that direction. Edit. Scrap that idea. I have just run it through sky safari and the ISS was always below the horizon last night.
  22. Just had a quick run through of my images. I took 760 images with an 18mm lens centered to the side of Vega. Of these 760 I captured a grand total of 6 meteors! Not too bad considering the percentage of the moon and the horrible light pollution I get towards the north/east.
  23. Sorry for the vague title but here goes. Let's say I have two different DSLR lenses used at night. One is a Canon 18mm f/3.5 and the other is a Samyang 135mm f/2 lens. I have imaged with both. With the Samyang 135mm at f/2 I can take an image with an exposure of 2 minutes and the image is not over exposed. But with the Canon 18mm at f/3.5 I can only take an image with an exposure of 15 seconds before the image becomes over exposed or washed out. This was when the moon was out at about 60%. So the question is (without me doing some experiments) when using a wider angle lens does this decrease the possible exposure time? It is my understanding that the Samyang at f/2 will let in more light than my canon at f/3.5 but the Samyang lets me image at a far longer exposure time?
  24. Thanks for that. Mine when increasing the number stops at 399, it will not go any higher or to --- as you state. This is the first timeni have ever set it that high though!
  25. It certainly was a lot of shots. Because of the light pollution, moon and wide angle I was limited to about 15 second exposures at the iso I was using. Unfortunately my intervalometer is limited to 399 images to I had to go outside to reset it a couple of times. I am using a dummy battery that is powered off a dedicated DSLR power pack. It's this dummy battery http://www.exprodirect.com/product.php?productid=47466&cat=10642&page=&featured=Y And this power pack http://www.exprodirect.com/ex-pro-on-the-move-16000mah-rechargeable-battery-power-system-replacing-for-use-with-ex-pro-coupler-system-for-canon-nikon-and-sony-dslr-cameras..html
