  1. Who was the English guy who used to post on SGL. His videos were all about astrophotography on a budget. He'd buy second hand gear for a few quid and take pretty good images. He lives in London.
  2. Contact officers O'Leary and Minogue at Wellington Police HQ. They investigate the paranormal. On a serious note, isn't that some kind of rocket fuel dumping or jetisoned fuel tank?.
  3. I watched the show last night. Lorna asked me "How the hell do you find these shows?". We watched it together and REALLY enjoyed it. Lorna now thinks she is a Martian. Which is not outside the realm of possibility. I still think she is from Venus. Honestly, I'm excited about the mission to Mars to retrieve the core samples.
  4. Great meteor storm please. I've seen a great comet back in the 80s. Can't remember it's name.
  5. Not sure of the forecast here. Fingers crossed. *Update* Cloudy with 40% chance of rain from midnight tomorrow
  6. Just a heads up for people in Ireland/UK/ Mainland Europe. There will be a total lunar eclipse starting at I believe 2:30 AM, Monday morning and lasting til about 6 AM (GMT).
  7. I swear, it must be. I can't explain it otherwise.
  8. I never suffered with allergies until 2018, when myself and Lorna became a couple. She's had them all her life. In the same way, I never suffered with sinus problems until we got together. She's had them all her life. Go figure.
  9. The weather and not being able to observe between May and September because its not dark enough. I could go out at 10pm or 11, but I'm too settled by that time and doing other stuff.
  10. Nebs and galaxies. I revisit planets and Moon every now and again.
  11. The 130P was about 100 pounds. The 150 is about 3 times that. I googled it.
  12. I was going to suggest Skywatcher Heritage 130P. I didn't even know there was a 150 version. The 150 is a lot pricier than the 130.
  13. I just call them bins. I have a pair of Omegon 2.1x32 (or something), a pair Strathspey 10x50, Strathspey 20x90 and a pair of Lunt Sunoculars (8x32).
  14. For all of my binocular needs, I go to Strathspey binoculars. I have 10X50 and 20X90. Quality bins. I mount the 20X90 on a Ravelli ball head pistol grip tripod and mount, which I bought for the low low price of £60 a few yrs ago, from Telescope House. Not my images. I dragged these from Internet.
  15. About an hour ago, I arrived home from an Ed Sheeran concert in Dublin. When I got out of the car I saw 3 white light in the sky roughly traveling in a SE direction. They were spaced out from each other. As I watched, the central light kept going in a straight line, while the outer ones on either side veered of course (one to the left, one to the right). They didn't do 90 degree turns. They just slightly changed trajectory in a curve and went their separate ways. Definitely wasn't birds being lit up on their bellies. It was pretty cool.
  16. Wow!!!!. Lovely group. I may have to take the Quark Chromosphere out tomorrow (clouds permitting).
  17. Laser pointers really don't like the cold. The batteries die very quickly. They won't last long at all if you keep the power button pressed down if using as a "dot finder".
  18. I bought a lovely set of 2.1x42 bins a few yrs ago. Identical to the Vixen above, but about half the price. I can't remember what brand (possibly Omegon....I haven't used them in a long time). The low powered wide views are gorgeous. A lot of people on here said that they tried similar bins but didn't get on with them. I've had no issues. I must dig them out soon and get lost in the vista.
