  1. 6.4mm refers to the focal length (fl) of the eyepiece. FL (telescope)/FL (eyepiece)= magnification. A barlow lens will increase the effective magnification of the eyepiece by the power factor of the barlow lens.
  2. Select the option "Start/connect at startup" . Also make sure you also selected "Load on startup" from the plug-ins dialogue screen prior to configuring the telescope control. 1. Open Stellarium and press f2 2. Go to Plugins and scroll down to Telescope Control. Select Load on Startup and the press the Configure button. 3. Select Add 4. Choose the first option "Stellarium direct through a serial port". 5. Select start/connect at startup. 6. Scroll down and select Skywatcher Synscan v3 or later. 7. At this point you will also need to know which com port the usb-serial adapter has been assigned. Select the com port from the list. 8. Press OK Restart Stellarium
  3. I think you answered your own question. The current Synscan firmware version for v3 handsets is 3.39.15 which can be found here Sky-Watcher | Sky-Watcher Global Website (skywatcher.com)
  4. No need for one, so probably never.
  5. For Android (Edge) open SGL in the browser and then press the three bars at the bottom of the screen. From there select "Add to phone" to add SGL to your home screen.
  6. There is no downloadable app. You can add a shortcut to your phones home screen.
  7. The way you described it suggested that it was something you installed from Google play and not just a browser shortcut that installs on your home screen. I needed to check with admin just to confirm this. I wasn't the only one who was mistaken into believing it was a downloadable app.
  8. There isn't an app as such. It is possible to add the website to your home screen depending on which os and browser you have. @adyj1 should have explained this better.
  9. Guiding (Phd2) and goto (Synscan handset/app/SkySafari) are different things. Guiding requires a second smaller telescope and dedicated guide camera to make continual adjustments to the motion of the mount to keep the target centred. Goto sends the mount to the required target based upon the location/date/time inputted into the handset or from the mobile device, after which the mount is left to its own devices to move at 15o /hr until another goto command is sent to the mount by the operator. Goto is quite dumb in this respect, it points the mount at where it believes the target is based on the information but doesn't know if the target is where the mount is really pointing. The tracking problem could be due to either bad balance or a problem with the mount.
  10. There is a method of photography using the camera lens (afocal imaging). This method uses the camera's lens attached to an eyepiece to obtain the image. The method is the way to take photos using a mobile phone or a camera with a non detachable lens.
  11. Hanging a bag of rocks/bricks/heavy weights underneath the tripod can sometimes aid stability.
  12. How it was done pre digital. https://www.csun.edu/~rprovin/ann/lunar.html
  13. Not a Barlow lens. The adapter is for eyepiece projection photography.
  14. Text fixed. To avoid importing the formatting from other sources use the option "paste as plain text".
  15. Certeza hasn't visited SGL since 2009. Don't expect a reply any time soon.
  16. What telescope do you have ? In one of your other threads you mention a Skymax 127. The short tube attached to the rear of the telescope should have a male thread onto which you can attach a t adapter. Or https://www.firstlightoptics.com/adapters/astro-essentials-1-25-inch-t-mount-camera-nosepiece-adapter.html . Be aware that some telescopes (newtonians) might not reach focus without a Barlow lens and refractors might need an extension tube.
  17. Phone number removed. It is never a good idea to give out private contact details in a public forum. If you start getting unsolicited calls, don't blame us.
  18. But it is astronomy and eyepiece related, so has been moved to a more appropriate location.
  19. That doesn't sound good. It is not unheard of for the primary mirror to become detached from the focusing mechanism.
  20. Yes it will. The distance the draw tube has to move to regain focus with the diagonal in place will be the same as the effective length of the diagonal.
  21. The OP doesn't have the requirements (30 days membership + more than 25 relevant posts) to access the buy/sell section.
  22. The "barlow" lens is part of the optical system. The Astromaster 114 has a optical system known as a Jones-Bird reflector. The corrector lens adjusts the focal length and also corrects spherical aberrations.
  23. The buy/sell section used to be visible guests but this was stopped due to scammers. Please read the notice again, the buy/sell section is now only open to members with at least 30 days membership and more than 25 posts. Once you have reached the requirements the buy/sell section will become visible to you.
