  2. Optically there shouldn't be much difference between the two telescopes. Synta, the manufacturers of Skywatcher branded telescopes, also own Celestron and sell similar telescopes under the two brand names. The Celestron's CG3 mount is a little newer than the Skywatcher's EQ2 , both have similar payload capacities, but the CG3 has a better tripod (steel legs) so should be more stable than the EQ2 (aluminium legs)
  3. Please contact admin and they might be able to help.

  7. @Giles_B Saxon telescopes are rebranded Synta telescopes in Australia, just as Orion are in America. This one is the Star Discovery 150 under another name. Sky-Watcher Star Discovery 150i WiFi | First Light Optics
  8. The two thumbscrews on the base act as a focus lock and the other as friction adjustment for the crayford (can't remember off hand which does which) .Tightening the thrumbscrews should help.
  9. That doesn't look like a power issue. This looks more like a problem with either the drive motor or the gears not meshing.
  10. I stand corrected, as the man said in his new orthopaedic shoes. I'll get my coat.
  11. It's called a Moon dog. Light from the Moon is refracted by ice crystals in the atmosphere/clouds causing the halo.
  12. Hello and welcome to SGL. The basic HEQ5 mount cannot be controlled through a pc/stellarium.
  13. On start up the handset interrogates the mount to see if the mount is either eq or az. In the case of the EQ6 AZ the mount gives both options and the user sets the mount type (EQ or AZ) in the handset. The EQ3-2 is equatorial so you only have that option and the handset automatically loads up the alignment routine for eq mounts. Nothing will get damaged if you use the EQ6AZ handset with the EQ3-2, they both use the same firmware, you will just get the eq mode.
  14. What was you trying to attach the filter to ? Normally the filter would be attached to the eyepiece using the thread in the nosepiece or possibly the diagonal. In both cases the thread size of the filter should match that of the eyepiece or diagonal in use (1.25" or 2")
  15. The link goes to your private messenger, no one can read those.

  19. Its a Jones-Bird reflector, possibly a G-8N Celestron 8″ G-8N Reflector (telescopeinfo.com) . The cheaper Jones-Birds normally place the corrector lens in the focuser.
  20. No need to do anything as drastic as that. Just turn the alt axis either by hand or use the handset to reset the home position to zero. The "home" position for the az mount is only needed for the "North and Level" star alignment, as this is the home position for this.

  22. Haven't you asked these questions in your other similar threads? It might be better just to concentrate your questions in one of the other threads rather than repeating the same questions.
