  1. I can't say I have ever noticed any stiction on my Tele-Optic Giro GR-DX II when loaded with one or two 'scopes attached. Though unloaded I have noticed it is there, but not a lot... and none with the AOK-AYO II loaded or unloaded.
  2. Hi @Gmx76. I think many amatuer astro. clubs/societies are doing meetings via Zoom. Reading Astronomical Society, of which I am a member are, plus a few other local groups within the catchment area.
  3. Hi @Penwith24 & @KeithP22 welcome to SGL.
  4. Have you considered the Baader one? You the option of 2" as well and a matching Barlow lens!
  5. Hi @Tommasi and welcome to SGL. Sorry for appearing to be thick, but I cannot see what I am supposed to be looking for/at. If it was me, and you have concerns about it, I would return it. If it is new then it is the responsibility of the the vendor/outlet from where you purchased it from to put right. If it is second-hand then it is between you and the seller. Hopefully someone with more knowledge of the 'Heritage' series can advise as it maybe something that is an easy fix.
  6. Is that the 'Picatinny' or 'Weaver' gun/rifle sight rail/mount?
  7. I made one of these up for my Revelation Astro 20x80 binoculars centre bar/rail from a spare TeleVue Qwik Point RDF mounting block, 2x 15mm pipe clips, 2x M4 x 12mm or 15mm machine screws and 2x M4 nyloc nuts.
  8. I have tried the Baader 8-24mm mk IV zoom and was very impressed. Baader also do a matching Barlow lens for it.
  9. You could go 'cheapskate' and get two Jubilee hose rings and dovetail bar... I added some self-adhesive felt; (you could also use neoprene, rubber, cork, etc.), to the inside of the rings to prevent them scratching the OTA. The only reason I have used them, was that I cannot find any tube rings for the ETX105 available, as the external diameter is 124mm.
  10. I suppose the bean counters at the FCC; (and other communication regulators worldwide); are to busy looking down at their QWERTY keyboards and .XLS spreadsheets... rather than looking up at the night sky!
  11. Hi @Naveen and welcome to SGL. Here's a link to the BST's as mentioned by @Ags... https://www.firstlightoptics.com/bst-starguider-eyepieces.html I am not sure how good these are... https://www.firstlightoptics.com/vixen-eyepieces/vixen-npl-eyepieces.html ...but they are a bit cheaper if you are on a tight budget. I use a variable polarising filter when viewing the Moon & Venus and sometimes use it when viewing Jupiter & Saturn. I also use the Baader Neodymium, which I sometimes refer as a 'Swiss-Army knife' filter.
  12. Hi @HyperBiotec and welcome to SGL.
  13. Hi @Moonshedman a.k.a. @Moonshed / Keith and welcome back to SGL. Maybe one of the admins can help with you question/query.
  14. FWIW... TeleVue Plossl's start from £90.00GBP and Nagler's start from £310.00GBP. All 'premium' brand eyepieces tend to retain the prices with modest depreciation value... even when being sold second-hand. Many people cough and laugh at this one... it is the SkyWatcher 2"/28mm LET|LER Apex and I have seen these being sold second-hand for silly money. I purchased mine second-hand for silly money too... £7.50 inc. P&P... and to be honest, I am proud of it and I don't care what others may think or be thinking.
  15. Diffraction spikes are 'normal' for Newtonian reflectors. It's a crunchy/smooth peanut butter or Marmite thing... you either hate it or love it.
  16. Hi @Jarvo and I am so sorry to read the sad news above. Back to topic... Below is an image my 're-modded' ETX105 mounted on a Manfrotto 055PROB c/w Universal Optics DwarfStar mount. If you can get hold of one of these little mounts they are in my opinion well worth it. Failing that, some photo ballhead mounts with a removable quick-release plate may take a Vixen type dovetail bar. "Probably the best lightweight visual 'grab & go' setup in the world!" - "Vorsprung durch non-tecnik!"
  17. Especially when it says TeleVue... <--- 13mm Nagler type 1 <--- 13mm Nagler type 6 And below... my 'one-to-many' TeleVue 13mm e/p's for size comparison.
  18. As above and don't forget to get a copy of Turn Left at Orion.
  19. That looks pretty damn close to me... and well @harpy done if this was your first attempt.
  20. Hi @Thwyllo and welcome to SGL.
  21. You're welcome. I am planning to do some imaging with my DSLR's (Nikon D40x & D80). I still have the digital compact camera too. Just to let you know batteries don't like cold. So make sure you have either... spare batteries; (as batteries don't like cold); or a dummy battery connected to a safe external power supply/source if using outside.
  22. The 'corrected' image looks so much better. I need to re-listen to 'The War of the Worlds' ...Justin Hayward's original 'musical' version. BTW - Justin Hayward is the only other person I know of that is allowed to use the word The... in the title... followed by War of the Worlds apart from H G Wells himself.
  23. Hi @Davechapman and welcome to SGL. I use an eyepiece projection unit (i.e. EPU)... My 'EPU' is the 'tube' in the centre of the image. I put an eyepiece in it and tighten the locking screw (not shown). It was made for me by Beacon Hill Telescopes. Other brands, including variable, are available. You may need to read this post and in which I replied to earlier today... Below is an image I took many years ago of 'Montes Apenninus' with a Meade ETX105 mounted on an alt-az mount, Meade 20mm Plossl e/p inserted in the EPU, star diagonal; (the one as shown in the first image); and a digital compact camera.
