  1. Thanks guys. There was a tiny allen-wrench screw hiding on the plate that I completely overlooked after disassembling everything twice. That did the trick!
  2. I have a Orion SkyQuest XT8 Classic Dobsonian with a 2" crayford focuser. The focuser has stopped properly moving in its track; it's not really moving at all; it'll move a bit, and then gravity will make it drop back down. I have to focus by pulling or pushing the whole tube by hand. I took off the plate and 4 screws that hold the adjustment wheel to take a look. I don't see any issues with the wheel-bar or the flat part on the drawtube. I reattached the plate and tightened the 4 screws; no change. The thumb screw that locks the tube in place is working properly. Any ideas?
  3. Is there an advantage to using 2" eyepieces over 1.25"?
  4. Good point on a 2x barlow. What exactly does "steady view" mean? The scope itself is pretty solid on its mount.
  5. Hi, newbie here. I have an Orion Skyquest 8XT 1200mm on a basic Dobsonian mount with 10, 20 and 25mm 1.25" eye pieces. To get some additional magnification, would a barlow lens be the next purchase to make? If so, what features should I look for? What about size of the eye pieces/barlow? The focuser will take 1.25" or 2" pieces. I'm generally looking at planets.
