  1. Good sketch, much better than I could do, like it 🙂
  2. Ooh that’s a lovely image, I’ve seen a few similar pictures but that's definitely one of the best.
  3. That was lovely, super images well worth the effort, thanks.
  4. That’s a very useful feature and seems fairly accurate, sometimes just getting Polaris visible in the polar scope to start with can be frustratingly challenging.
  5. Agreed, saw it in Preston back in February.
  6. Without doubt the easier you make it to set up the more likely you are to use it.
  7. Oh yes,, that’s very nice, I think M1 with all its history is my favourite object that I’ve never seen.... yet.
  8. Personally I would balance everything and use the finder to do your star alignment, obviously that would need to be aligned with the telescope correctly first, there’s a good chance your first alignment star could be quite a way off so the wide angle of the finder is quite helpful. It’s the way I do it and seems to work fine.
  9. Can’t say I’ve ever noticed it before but I have just spent a very productive half an hour spinning my tv remote, and it truly is (a thing)
  10. As the owner of both ccd (Starlight express SVX-M25c) and an as yet unused Zwo ASI1600mm-cool I am going to follow this thread closely, what I can say is there’s some absolutely stunning images taken with the Zwo ASI 1600 camera so I don’t think you made a bad choice, I think it may just be a case of learning and understanding how to get the best from an as yet unfamiliar camera. Doug.
  11. Dose that help any? It’s how I worked it out with mine Doug.
  12. I use the Zwo finder guider with the 120mm-s and find them to be a good combination, the only reason I went with the 120mm-s was for the faster frame rates than the 120 mm mini, so it should make a decent lunar and planet camera also. when I was researching guide cameras and guide scopes for myself I never read a poor review on the Zwo finder guider and the asi120mm mini bundle.
  13. Not sure if it’s any help but when I take flats in apt with my OSC camera my histogram shows three separate peaks, I assume it’s a separate peak for red, green and blue so perhaps your filter is having an effect on the histogram. How much or if it matters though I don’t know. Doug
  14. That’s nice,, I like the star colours 🙂 gives it some depth.
  15. Yep still does,, thanks guys, don’t know why I didn’t think of looking on the website, have been scouring the program for an update button. thanks again Doug.
  16. I have been using APT for a while now and find myself wanting to upgrade to the fully paid up version but as hard as I look I can’t see how to do it, I know there must be a way but how? Doug.
  17. Now that is pretty cool, I presume your going to paint it?
  18. Superb image, you both should be very proud.
