  1. Ya, not for me, and I did contact them... slightly miffed, but over it πŸ˜‰
  2. I'm visual only, but love my LS50DS w/BF600 + the Moonlight focusser upgrade. I was worried before purchasing about the cloudy filter issue... and recently had that problem despite careful storage with dessicent. Ive had the scope 4.5 yrs. I really needn't have worried: €20 and 5mins to easily replace with a new one - arrived within a couple of days of ordering from Bresser no fuss to replace. I bought mine at a discount from FLO: customer return - full warranty and checked by the staff beforehand. I love it One point for theLS60 is increased focus adjustability- for visual, it will permit binoviewing - whereas the LS50 doesn't for standard BVs. Cannot comment re imaging!
  3. I'd like to take a punt for >250x planetary use in my f4.5 dob, but apparently they're better suited for lower power views - open to correction!
  4. Great photo! Saw sun dogs once - well chuffed: a real treatπŸ˜‰ Not as spectacular as what you caught though!
  5. A sad loss of someone whose innovation enriched our hobby profoundly. His legacy is all over many of our EP sets - including the Paracorr which is so important to fast dob users.
  6. Sure if your EP gets dirty, just get your dog to give it a lick!
  7. Or being driven nuts by it!! 🀣
  8. Looks like the Needle Galaxy NGC4565 and the Black Eye Galaxy M64 to me! I'd love to try NV πŸ˜‰ I've seen 1x magnification shots posted here showing the Angel Fish neb and Bernard's Loop which were spectacular!
  9. Holy moly the Ovni NV Binoviewer is expensive! I've had one particularly spectacular view of M51 with my 15" from my local Bortle 4ish skies - transparency makes a huge difference along with good seeing: wonderful knotty detail in the spiral arms ...literally breathtaking. Sounds like you are getting fantastic results with you 8". Interesting to hear it doesn't make so much of a difference in your 15"! I wonder why??
  10. Maybe the meteor storm from a really dark site, shared with my family. A great comet would be cool too - really enjoyed seeing Neowise two summers ago: Betelgeuse going would certainly be a once in few centuries event - spectacular and would spark widespread interest in our hobby I guess. If we could watch a new nebula expand over our lifetimes that would be pretty cool.
  11. I had the SW 250px, and its focusser too could be upgraded cheaply with the excellent Lacerta 10:1 dual speed kit. I only used 1.25" EPs in that scope to keep things simple. Overall, a great scope! However, now the Bresser large diameter bearings would probably clinch it for me.
  12. Sorry to hear Spain fell through Mike, and best of luck with the new move.
  13. Yes - his documentaries are really excellent! He's a great presenter. Will see if I can access this being in ROI - sounds like the sort of stuff I enjoy πŸ˜‰
  14. Very interesting!! Thanks. OK- I don't wish to derail this thread off topic any further πŸ™‚
  15. Not wishing to stray too far off this interesting topic, but would folk recommend 'overcooking' the spec for a TV Dioptrx by 0.25 or so, similarly to astro glasses? (I've been thinking one could be my next purchase! πŸ™„)
  16. Yup weather! 😭 Oh... but when you get a dark night with good seeing and excellent transparency ... omg πŸ˜‰
  17. Defo my LS50DS gets the most use... small, light, observing in less than 5 mins, and no electronics involved Great for a quick peep to see what's going on 😎. I'll often leave it out if it's a sunny day and have a few looks over the course of a day working from home for a few mins break here and there! Cool to see active regions and proms evolve - so dynamic.
  18. Hi, I can't comment about anything re suitability for imaging - I'm strictly visual, but I watched out for a 'customer return' of a LS50 on FLO's site, and pounced when I saw one come up. Couple of hundred off, full warranty, and assurance that it was tested and all was well with the scope before purchasing: and indeed it is πŸ˜‰ Yeah, Ha is damn expensive!!
  19. Superb! πŸ‘πŸ‘
  20. Sounds class!! - and a big congratulations to you both on your engagement 🍾πŸ₯‚
