  1. What an amazing project and so well executed. very well done i now know what to do if i win the lotto!
  2. to find the o/s version in linux type cat /etc/os-release into a terminal window
  3. i was only really using it as an example i have looked at quite a few that have clear domes so the hardware side of it looks useful. i will checkout your thread as well thanks.
  4. slightly on / off topic anyone tried using one of these as an all sky camera? https://www.amazon.co.uk/LEFTEK-3072x1728-3-5-10-5mm-Distance-Weatherproof-white/dp/B0785J1H6V?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_2 i guess it depends on what control of the camera you have?
  5. also depends if you are going to control the camera from a laptop. i found that aligning with an eyepiece gave a slightly different position when i attached the camera also you may need to re-balance a little with the camera attached.
  6. brilliant. looks like a decent obsy next to you as well!
  7. My kids were blown away with seeing Saturn and Jupiter with some of the moons last night. i also take the scope down to the local scout group once a year so they can tick off their Astronomy badge. the look on their faces when they actually see things with their own eyes is amazing.
  8. I have a 2" x 2 barlow that i have never really used mainly because i cannot get the camera to focus with it. is this what would be expected and i am flogging a dead horse trying to get it to focus? SW200PDS OTA
  9. i am running 2xrpi4's with the flirc cases and am very pleased with them
  10. I had a similar issue with my Starlight express costar sometimes tracked ok in phd2 but would lockup and crash the software if i did long single exposures or the deadpixel routine also sharpcap and the costar software would crash pretty much all the time but Maxim would be fine. turned out to be a faulty usb chip on the main board of the device its on its way back to me from Starlight express now so hopefully all sorted
  11. I have a 200PDS newtonian it looks like a Baader is roughly the same price as a clear glass filter so which would be better for galaxies?
  12. Picked up a cheap 1300D off ebay and its going to get the full mod treatment so for the uneducated (me) is it better to get a Baader BCF filter mod or go with a complety clear unfiltered glass? i will be using it for astro only and want to concentrate on galaxys and nebulae thank you
  13. Hi all i have the potential of obtaining a Canon EOS 2000D to replace my nikon has anyone any experience with this camera? i will probably want to remove one of the filters so the ability to do this is also a question and only use it for astro hope you clever ones can help cheers
  14. is stellarmate worth the $50 over and above a raspbian install with kstars etc?
  15. Well i finally got to use my new pier and spent some time last night getting some images. also had a huge schoolboy error in that my camera was set to jpg only so nothing raw at all which i was pretty gutted after 4 hours messing about. anyway quite pleased with the jpgs of M81/2 and M33
  16. i also have indi talking to my bluetooth adapter on the HEQ5 ! get me eh!!
  17. ok i appear to have this all working now! no more crashes anyway and INdi server starts ok even without setting up kstars etc so all good. what i did do was reinstall from scratch but also ran the update that it installed in the utilities folder that was created. i had to run the install twice as the first time it failed to communicate with a few of the Raspberry servers for some reason. now for some real testing. cheers guys
  18. mine is a slightly different issue now!, when i run ekos and select the kit etc and select run it pops up saying it detected indi running do i want to close it and start a new session. i select yes or no and it closes kstars going to start from scratch i think!
