  1. I saw that amazing had a great night in a lot of pain now so paying for it but was well worth it I will write up a report probably tomorrow now.
  2. Congratulations Stu so happy for you and your family I will look forward to some good reports from you. When I win the lottery I will be in the market for a nice house/ bungalow facing farmers fields or something similar so I can see a lot more than from here. (dreams) Once again Stu congratulations I am sure you and your family will make some really great memories at your new home. Best wishes Paul
  3. Have you got a easy map to star hop to as I am hopeless that's why I got a goto mount please. I will try tomorrow as its hissing down here.
  4. Ian, Thank you for that I too look at double stars and can see over a few nights how some tight ones I can get yet on other occasions I cannot. I must learn now various mag stars so I can compare you would think after 10 yrs with a scope and 30 odd years with binoculars before that I would know by now. Most of the time even with high cloud with double and multiple star's it doesn't matter you can still go for them that's why I like doing it not all about deep sky and galaxies. Thank you for your input really appreciate it.
  5. There are a few double star resources out there. https://bestdoubles.wordpress.com/resources/ Is very good from starsplitters.
  6. I have sorted it now used a piece of one of my tablet wrappers they are slightly thicker than tinfoil more robust. Put it in screwed in brass screw tight backed it off put the lever on good as new now and locks off very easily.
  7. I have been having problems with my EQ5 goto getting things in the centre of the FOV. After reading through Alan64's very informative thread and looking through the pictures I decided to check my clutches and found this I have adjusted it but I have done that before. I now think the bass screw is working its way loose then it can slip any ideas what I can do with it please. 20210810_145840.mp4
  8. Alan what do you recommend for this other axis is fine. Regards Paul 20210810_145840.mp4
  9. A zoom eyepiece is one that has various focal lengths all in one. So you go buy a 8" telescope basically you will need 3 eyepieces one long one medium one small I.e 25mm 15mm and a 8mm plus a 2x Barlow when using this in conjunction with the eyepieces you have theoretically 6 eyepieces as the Barlow halves the focal length 25 becomes 12.5mm 15mm becomes 7.5mm and the 8mm becomes a 4mm a zoom in various guises can be 8-24mm so between a 8mm and a 24mm and all in between so can a 7-21mm but for me the 8-24mm with a 2x Barlow would be a good start.
  10. I got this thanks to @johninderbygot one for all my refractors now.
  11. Brilliant absolutely brilliant it has been a real treat reading this and seeing all the photos, I suspect my RA and DEC clamps are slipping slightly on my EQ5 goto I can do a 3 star alignment and centre everything go to objects they are in the centre of the FOV other times they are not either bottom right or top left depending on what part of the sky I am viewing.
  12. Hi when you say seeing and transparency where do you get those numbers from please. I think they are on the Clear outside app but if you have another resource that would be most helpful thanks. Paul
  13. It's not out now looking like Thursday is going to be clear crossed fingers.
  14. This is my Tal out I will have to take pictures of the other two.
  15. I have watched this from the off and can say its a fantastic piece of work, it would grace any Astronomers book shelf or reference I will certainly be getting one. You have made a real gem and I thank you for it. Best wishes Paul
  16. That Kaldex looks brilliant Mike, When you made the box I was in awe of it, woodwork is not my thing I cannot even saw straight 😃
  17. Looks loads darker now that should help with contrast and is the ptfe smoother now do you not need anything hold it in place so doesn't slip.
  18. I have seen it in my 4" Refractor and at 12.30 it is high enough to be found and observed, should be no problem in a 6" scope.
  19. Only just spotted this now I will be back later this afternoon I will check in mine there are a few batteries like this 2032,2025 and 2016 I have seen in various pieces of equipment. I do think its a 2032 but I will check for you.
