  1. He is too far away only see him maybe 4 times a year bit of bad luck really.
  2. I don't have a spare pair now after giving my grandson the prinz 12 x 50s
  3. Cheers for that I will have to check the focusing mechanism or try again on a different night.
  4. I bought a pair of Revelation 8 x 42 SF Waterproof Roof Prism Binoculars a couple of nights ago thought I would look at Jupiter it was clear. I could not see any moons and Jupiter did not look round just would not focus. I have looked at Jupiter many times and know exactly where it is I was not confused with Antares. When I use them through the day they seem fine I have tried them 3 times now no luck any help appreciated. I used to have a really cheap pair of Prinz 12 X 50 which showed all four moons but I gave them to my grandson and bought these so they would be easier to handle.
  5. The 15mm is superb for low medium and high power I would go for the 25mm the 15mm and the 8mm I did and have never looked back.
  6. https://www.myastroscience.com/polarscopecalibration I have used this site to do mine a couple of times very easy with pictures.
  7. Welcome to SGL From a very wet St. Helens.
  8. Well if any of mine will work the op is welcome to have the one that fits foc.
  9. Which one do you need the left or right I assume they have 3 pin plugs on the other end.
  10. Great haul there another convert to a Frac for double, multiple and carbon star observing, It is very surprising what a 4" Frac can catch.
  11. Loads of clouds here got bins on it few days back but seeing was terrible could not even see the moons that watery.
  12. Raining here until 9.30pm ish then thick cloud through to 1.30 when I went to bed 😭
  13. Do you want to buy new. There is a Tal 100rs on Astro buy and sell I've got one. One of them with a lunt solar wedge is excellent and great for the moon, planets, double and multiple star's and clusters.
  14. Just seen it for 120 euros so not a bad price either.
  15. My very good friend Nick (cotterless45) got me into Achromatics I had a 8" reflector which I sold I now have a Tal 100rs f10 and a Meade 127mm F9. 3 I love them both. The Tal is great for solar and a quick grab and go. The Meade is brilliant on double and multiple star's but also great on clusters. I may in the future get myself another 8" but as I don't have dark skies it's not worth it having stuck gathering dust. Plus I would have to get a better mount a 8" is too big for the EQ5 IMHO.
  16. First time I did I was crying in anger it took me a solid day and a half trying get it right. It took me that long but once I got it right it was so easy after.
  17. Put some coloured card in the tube opposite the focuser. have another piece folded in half making a L shape a different colour put this in front of your secondary mirror, so it blocks the primary mirror reflection off. Once you have done this you will be able to centre the secondary correctly under the focuser so it is as round as you can and the space around it is even. You may have to tighten the centre screw so the secondary moves into the tube or unscrew it to gain the desired space around the secondary mirror. Lightly do the 3 collimation screws up to hold the secondary in place. Take the L shaped card out use the 3 collimation screws to see the mirror clips evenly remember to back one off and tighten a different one to get the desired result. Then you can go to the primary tweak that then remove coloured card from opposite the focuser job done.
  18. Great collection there a couple I have not viewed yet. M92 is one of my favourites as gets over looked by M13 but it's a lovely globular in its own right.
  19. I've got one I've stopped using it, give me a pm you can have it. I had to find a screw to put in but if works.
  20. Brilliant Nick I stayed up until 2am Jupiter was high and bright around 12.45 covered in wispy cloud looked at it through binoculars could not even see the moons. Vega popped out for a bit with Merak and Dubhe pointing to the pole star and that was my night. Did not even set up. I will be definitely checking out IC 4756 Graph`s. Great set of objects there Nick although I doubt I will pick anything up in the South with the street light.
  21. Use the Cheshire unless you know the laser is dead on most cheap ones are not as John has said. Position the secondary under the focuser so you can see a round of circle as you can and tighten up the centre screw making sure you have backed off the 3 collimation screws. from there follow Astro Baby's and this site I used them when I did my 150p and 200p. http://www.schlatter.org/Dad/Astronomy/collimate.htm
  22. I too spent a very enjoyable night in Buxton with Nick who pointed out the whale and hockey stick and another target which as far as I can remember is the furthest we can see. Nick was happy as he had only ever seen once or twice, Over to you Nick fill in the object, the night my 8" hit every target which made a change. Great report not sure whether I can see some of them in my 5" Refractor but I will try when I get a decent night.
  23. Mu Cephei (The Garnet Star) SAO 0336 93 in case anyone wants it. Another good one is R Leporis (Hinds Crimson) SAO 1500 58.
