Quark - where to buy?

Hi,

I'm thinking about investing in a Quark Chromosphere unit but am curious as to where to buy in the UK?

I'm looking for best price but also good support if needed.

Please feel free to PM me if you prefer privacy in replies.

Thanks,

Ant

Thanks for replies chaps.

I like the idea of having it for use with ED120 and/or ED80, but also as a double stack unit with the LS60.

I've been reading a lot online about them and have read good stuff... and some not so good. Downsides for me appear to be the 4.2x amplification and the cost. Upsides: versatility and bandpass/price ratio.....

Thanks again,

Ant

Merlin, my scopes are both f7.5 now, which falls into the recommended f4-f8 range for the original models?

I did see that the combo (f15) model has improved baffling and AR coatings though.  I wonder in new versions of the standard models will also be supplied with these enhancements?

Another plus for Astrograph.  Rupert is very knowledgable and gives top support and service. Astgrograph are also agents for other DayStar filters and I think this really helps.  Some people who sell Quarks are just selling the one produt  from the DayStar range and I suspect htis will not help if anything goes wrong.  Whatever you do, if not Astrograph, make sure you are dealing with someone with top knowledge of HAlpha and has a good track record. Preferably someone who actually uses the quipment themselves.

A lot of places have stopped stocking them due to some of the problems that arose  The widescreen centre stock them and also test each one before selling them. However, they do tend to be a few £'s more expensive than other retailers.

Based on my personal experience with Daystar a few quid more at the onset maybe very much worth it as they  can be very slow with their response. For example, the portable power pack I purchased with the Quark broke and I never got any kind of response after almost  5 weeks of trying. In the end Kieran from SCS kindly gave me my money back and I bought a new power pack off amazon. SCS no longer trade with Daystar due to similar experiences.

I must add I am very happy with my Quark and have had no issues with the unit at all

I got mine from the Widescreen Centre. They were a few quid more expensive, but they price-matched.
