Thinking about getting myself a pair of fleece lined mickey mouse boots. Can't really complain, considering the cost.

:DAndy.

I now have a pair of these Mickey Mouse boots from this link and I must say they are superb.

They are really big and heavy but incredibly warm. Perfect really for standing around.

I can see why they are called Mickey Mouse boots as not only do they look like Mickey's oversized feet, but they are so heavy you end up walking like Mickey as well...

Chainsaw salopettes, an armour plated ski jacket, moon boots from the cat protection league, a hot water bottle or two and a cyclops-in-a-bad-temper red headlight. Sex on a stick, I can tell you. Down, ladies, down....

Waiting quietly for our Toon friends to turn up with pics of them wearing nothing but a g-string out at minus 6 with their scope saying why its noot cold out! ya suthen softies...:o

*shudders

'Something warm' in multiple layers - vest, T, woolen jumper, fleece, gortex outer... thermals if it's *really* cold (lived in Cumbria last couple of year, -20 around new years).

Hopefully won't need so much this far south :)

For winter I start with a cotton t-shirt, then a hooded top, pulling the hood up keeps the cold and breeze from the back of the neck, a three quarter length parka coat and a hat with the ear flaps, can't think of the name right now.:o

I usually put on a pair of denims and some ski salopettes over them, they come up to the chest and offer another layer of protection. Two pairs of cotton socks and a pair of snow boots.

I either wear fingerless gloves or heavier ski gloves, it depends on whether I'm sketching or not.

I don't wear a balaclava, it itches too much:icon_frown: and fogs up the specs.:D

In summer, on those very rare occasions I wear a t-shirt and a pair of shorts with sandals. On those very rare occasions.:)

Layers. From around this time of year onwards:

* Thermals (North Cape Rhovyl) base layer.

* Ordinary polycotton trousers + Nepalese polartec-lined wool jacket + polartec beanie + woolen socks + walking boots.

* When it gets colder, add polartec mid-layer trousers + windproof overjacket + substitute earflap hat or thick balaclava for beanie + substitute Kamik felt-lined snow-boots for walking boots.

The Kamiks are wearing out after 10 years -- just acquired some sheep-fleece-lined leather boots - they'll get "first light" this winter (probably not as warm as the Kamiks, but I found the Kamiks a tad too warm).

* Gloves: I have some ragwool thermal-lined gloves with fold-back mitt and split thumb: ideal when it gets cold; otherwise just bog-standard leather gloves.
