Uranus with polar hood and moons (22/10/23)

I had a very good session on Uranus this morning and managed to get my best image with the polar hood nicely resolved and several moons. IR capture and false colour.  Moons were added as a separate layer so I could brighten them up. 15 minute capture. 8" Dob, manual, asi 462mm, IR pass filter, 2.5xTV powermate.

Great stuff 🙂

The images you get are a tribute to your skill and determination and also the quality of the optics in the 200P dobsonian I reckon.

Having recently acquired a 200P dob, not having owned one for over a decade, I had forgotten just how good the optics are in these scopes 🙂

Terrific! Getting the polar hood with a 8" scope is mighty impressive.

Thanks Stuart. You know I like pushing it to it's limits 😜. I think the relative altitude helped as well from any bad seeing. Collimation was spot on as well.

Thanks John. I have been really impressed with the 200P, considering it's cost. I only recently upgraded the focuser, as it had a bit of play in the tube and I couldn't get collimation to be perfect, and it is performing even better now.

You have seen my observing reports on nebulas  in the past and it's really an excellent telescope.

That really is a good capture! Was it really that clear in the early hours?  I missed it.

Thanks. Just a brief 1hr  window of no clouds. It's looking ok tonight.

If your 200P is equatorially mounted then you are a star 👍

If your 200p is mounted on a dob then you are a superstar 🥳

Thank you. Yes it is a Dob. Part of the fun pushing it to its limits.

You are doing amazing work with this scope Kostas 👍🏻

Thanks Jeremy. It has been a little gem. I like the simplicity of getting it in/out and get going as soon as it has cooled down.

Superb image Kostas, i have only ever managed that once with my C9.25.

Thanks Pete. I think it helped that I integrated 15min of data. I want to try with 742 filter as it can give even better contrast.

I'm thinking of trying your method myself but I'll be using a EQ platform.

I'll be pleased if it's half as good as your results  🙂
