Wonderful display, missed the start but was amazed at what I saw, incandescent fireball way outside of GONG's field of view, raining down streamers of fire.

The shape of it from what i saw resembled the typical "bubble effect" of a cme. If one went off just off the limb, surely this would what the plasma remains of it would look like.

I started viewing the Sun only recently, so apologise if this is a silly question. 

Can you see a flair like that on an eyepiece? 

That is very impressive!

Ive never seen plasma that far away from the photosphere, the streamers coming back down were something else.

You can see a flare in H alpha as an intense brightening of plage, which surrounds sunspots ie active regions.

What was seen then was plasma being ejected from a flare off the suns limb (out of our view) when one goes off on the visible disk,you see what i previously explained.

And breathe!  Seems to have dissipated a lot now, but that really was my best solar experience (eclipses excluded)  The hard drive on my little laptop has taken a battering!  Don't think the shots are really going to recapture the awesomeness of watching it though!

Fantastic display.... absolute fire cracker even at this time of the evening  The surface detail is spectacular in both white light & Ha, those spots are more than making up for the bad weather of late.

I'm kicking myself because I saw this developing and changing rapidly before it 'went off', I assumed that was as big as it was going to get so did not keep tabs on it.

Amazing image. There certainly was a lot going on today, plenty of fast moving/quick changing proms, and lovely detail in white light too!!
