Wow, comet near Hercules

gosh amazing comet I assume near Hercules!!

Yep, posted it on widefield. I spotted it at 5.50, just bright and round. Through the 15x70 bins it was a lovely fast moving bright cone. Just fading now up by Hercules. Really wonderful naked eye sight ,

It was jaw-dropping with 10 inch dob and 21 Ethos but mk1 eyeball was fab too, I was a bit worried at first when it caught my eye! Well, it is early doors!

Changed from a bright glow to a cone , really brilliant by eye, just couldn't believe what I was seeing,

Wow Just coming home from night shift.. I wish i'd been home to catch it in my C11... I could see it from the corner of my eye.. and i had no bins in the car, so tried to get home asap. Best i've see

Wowsers, hope some folks imaged it, no idea how it ranks among comets but it blew my mind. By luck I woke up early and checked weather for solar later and it said it was clear now so I thought set up early and image the moon. Super lucky! Hope some other folks got a view.

Traced it right up to the double Nu in CrB. Still shaking with excitement ( must get out more !) a really wonderful sight. Just couldn't believe how big and bright this was,

Glad others saw it, was very much hoping others saw it,. Pretty difficult to miss , given it's brightness and size by eye !

Hmmm, I am going to go and face the music now and see the Mrs, who I woke up early to see Comet Rocket Fuel Dump

I did get me some lunar images, not sure if my focus will be on as Comet RFD was a bit of a distraction!

I saw it as well and although I didn't think comet, I certainly didn't have a clue what it was. Made for an interesting morning watching events unfold. Thanks for clearing up the mystery.

Rocket dump comet im sure it was a great sight. I went out about 3am saw a meteor im now happy set up eq mod and went indoors to scan the skys and image.

Comet or rocket fuel that sounds like a way cool sight!

I spent a little time in the park with some friends who'd come over for a mince pie and mulled wine party. You know how it is with these things: people come round, get tanked up, go and spot Geminid meteors... Saw a really good number, some nice bright ones too, although I took the telescope and seemed to be looking down every time the others saw one!

I just picked up on all this. What an incredible sight! It must have been an amazing few hours, particularly between "discovery" and the realisation of what it was. Wish I'd seen it and experienced the same rollercoaster!
