If the moon was 1 pixel!

Sorry if this has already been posted but I thought you might like this scrollable model of the solar system. The scale is based on the moon being 1 pixel and it gives you a really good idea of how loooooong the distances are between th he planets.

This is a very cool scale.

All that emptiness, it oppresses me severely.

Remember Blake's Seven? In that series most planets were only a  few diameters apart.

That's because if they had to go any further the sets would have fallen apart.

The light speed button is just staggering! makes you realise how slow it really is on this sort of scale.

Or perhaps how big space really is?  Douglas Adams summed it up nicely:

"Space is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space."
