Welcome to SGL

I can't be certain, but I think you might struggle to reach focus with a camera in the 130.  You may find that you need a barlow in the focuser to push the focal plane out far enough for focus, but that will reduce the field of view.  Even with a 2x barlow I think you'd be able to fit the Moon in a single frame though.

Hi and welcome :)

You will need a T-Ring that is specific to your DSLR such as this http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002APT8ZQ/ref=oh_details_o07_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 for a Nikon or this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Celestron-T-Ring-Adapter-Digital-Cameras/dp/B000237C9M/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1393335562&sr=1-2&keywords=canon+t+adapter for a Canon.

Also you may need a T-Adapter unless your scope came with one.

If your scope has a 2 inch slot for eyepieces you might have got a 2inch to 1.25 inch adapter that slots into your telescope then you put your 1.25 inch EP into that for viewing.  If this is the case see if you can unscrew the bottom (largest end) of the 2inch to 1.25 inch adapter and if it does come off then that is your T-Adapter that connects to your T-Ring that connects to your DSLR lol.

Sounds complicated at first i know :)

Your scope has an Alt-Az mount so you will be limited to small exposures of DSO but its still doable and your fine for shotting lunar and planetary pics with your DSLR altho for really good Planetary pics you will want a modified webcam or specialist planetary cam.

There is a very steep learning curve for Astrophotography but please ask any questions you need and head on over to the imaging section of this forum for tips, help and advice.

Im no expert but any questions please feel free to PM me and ill happily help or show you to where someone else can answer your questions better  :)

Hi , thank you again for my lovely welcomes! And I'm over the moon with the advice given as it's extremely important to me

I'm looking at buying a 1.25 Barlow 2x following your advice on the focusing( thank you ) , Ill be looking at a connector ( the t- ring link - thank you) I'm not sure on the choice of dslr camera yet , iv narrowed it down to 2 , the cannon 600D or the Nikon D3200 I was wanting a new camera anyway but this has pushed me to getting one earlier than planned!

You will get 2 parties telling you what camera to get. The Nikon party and the Canon party lol.

I personally own the D3200 and bought if off Amazon at half price and find it a fantastic camera for both normal and Astro photography.

It has great reviews across the board and is a very capable camera.

I personally highly recommend it :)

The T Ring for the D3200 can be bought off Amazon also for £10.

Hi there, thanks lee :) I'm still camera-less because of not knowing which to buy lol , hoping to have one in my hands by the weekend ( half price for D3200 that's a great deal)

I have purchased a 2x Barlow 1.25 lens off eBay , wil the t adapter be universal? The t ring will be one comparable to whatever camera in buy, I think iv got that bit x :D

Welcome along!

I see you're not too far from me.  There are a couple of clubs in the area...but still a bit of a drive for you though :(

Scarborough and District Astronomical Society that meet at Dalby ( http://www.facebook.com/ScarboroughRyedaleAstronomicalSociety/info )

and

Astronomy Wise that meet at Sawdon - although they haven't held any meetings recently... ( http://www.facebook.com/groups/195002070660507 )

Does the Barlow have a screw thread on the outside edge of one end?

If so then yes, it's universal and will screw directly on to the t-ring (camera specific)

Was it this one by any chance? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111270390315

I'm currently using one of those with my DSLR.  It performs pretty well :)

Hiya as Andy said the deluxe Barlow with the thread for T-Ring connection are universal as are all T-Adapters as far as I know.

The only reason T-Rings are camera specific is due to the different size fittings for Nikon/Canon camera body itself.

Sorry iv not replied earlier, thank you for my lovely welcomes! What a lovely and clear last night , I plonked the scope down pointed it up ( looks like I'm going to have to invest in a skywatcher generator because my batteries lasted all if about 5 minutes!) so it was a pretty random align by myself :) I got a really cheap 2xBarlow lens, it was £8 delivered, the one you have linked looks pretty solid to the one I was delivered eeek!

@ lee having my camera delivered today, had a look on some reviews was torn between the canon 700D and the Nikon D5300 , I went hands on the canon and didn't like the feel so went the Nikon way! Some time today I'll be buying the adapters , and the generator oops!
