Finally found some tme to update the records - which I am doing in excel just not had time to post - amazingly again as we get to the 9th consecutive unobesrvable night the 10th night out come the stars - in 2 years this is still the pattern - no period longer than 9 nights where there hasn't been a chance to observe - Tuedsay was night 9 - Wednesday was the clearest night we've had in a while. Still no car so going to be trapped in the back garden for a while longer unfortunately.

The Forecast is not looking good for the foreseeable  -  starts out nice today but ends in rain - looks like the SWG3 Star party has wrung the last of the clear skies for October :0)

Gutted to miss SWG3 just want to get out again now but the weather  doesn't want to play ball at the moment but on the positive side will be nice to meet up with old friends again soon and also get a chance to use the new patio at home which gives me a Southern vista (albeit over the roof of the house so not ideal but beggars can't be choosers :0)   )

First frost of the winter on my car this morning - not something I missed but signs of a change from this horrible wet weather perhaps. Last night was the 9th night on the trot where we have not had observable conditions - in the last 2 years that is the longest single period we seem to get and yet again tonight which is night 10 is forecast for beautiful clear skies- as is tommorrow- shame about the moon but will be nice to step outside and just get a taste of hopeully whats to come.

Feels like an astronomical depression in my neck of the woods Steve.   :sad:

At least the Sun came out for a few minutes yesterday.   :smiley:

Tonight and especially tommorrow still looking good Mike- perhaps we need to make the best of them despite the moon. I've had my daughters dog for the last few days so gonna have to get out in the dark and clear up what hmmm  "presents" he's left for me on the lawn before I dare to get the gear out.

On the 10th night - yet again - clear conditions and despite the lingering low smoke from bonfire night and the annoying high cloud last night an oasis in the clouds for the last two nights before we return to rain and cloud yet again - the moom was so bright last night but after recent weather was a pleasure to see it at all.

Can't see an end to this bad spell, it's the longest period of "no scope" time since my daughter was born in January, and I was having to get up in the night for different reasons lol

Its not looking good at all at the moment Nathan - no sign of a break at all

Amazingly yet again on the 10th night which was last Friday the clouds parted for a gander at the stars, at least in the early part of the night - Saturday was even better (although I was in Cardigan so not quite sure how things worked out at home) - looks like a chance in the earlier part of tonight but then rain on the horizon through to Sunday- but these things change at vey short notice so fingers crossed for everyone at Blaenavon this weekend.

looking very bleak for Friday and Saturday :embarassed:

I'm on a hike up to Uxbridge on Friday Pete and the rugby doesn't kick off until 5pm on Saturday so not looking good at the moment - not having a good year on the observing front at the moment its got to be said

Last night was a pleasure to see the stars for anuy of you who joined Mike up in Blaenavon I'm sure - tonight is another opportunity but get out early as it looks like theres some mist heading in in the early part of the night - coldest night of the winter last night as well - was -2C when I got up at 6 this morning
