Looking good for a few more nights this week- July is looking good so far as is the summer in general with plenty more heat to come this week in time for the kids summer holidays

These evenings are beautiful clear and warm - I sat out for an hour or so in a T Shirt with a cup of coffee last night gazing up - its a long way away from Frost on the scope in Blaenavon in the middle of February for sure

Finally back up to date after my travels- big thanks to Pete for keeping everything recorded for me when I was away - thanks a bunch mate much appreciated once again.

 

Looks like 2014 is not such a bad year after all after the horribly wet winter- and July second year on the trot being the best observing month in terms of clear skies at least.

 

Fingers crossed the clear skies hold out for when the dark skies arrive - which won't be too long now. :0)

After the disaster winter in observng terms we are pretty much on a par with where we were last year now with 37.66% observable compared to 38.36% last year although the Autumn months will doubtless drag this down so I would guess at this stage we would be quite a bit down on 2013 by the time we get to Christmas.

Sat out on the patio with the garden furniture having its last few weeks outings and the nip of autumn is definitely in the air,shame it's starting to cloud over a bit can think of nothing less stressful at the moment than wrapping up,sitting down with a coffee and just looking up into the majesty of the night skies. Hmmmmmm

Looks like last night wasn't too bad after all - a few high clouds drifting by - seeing was terrible but if you needed your fix and wanted some luna observing not too bad at all

The Moon looked spooky last night, perfect for Halloween.  

Funny thing Mike I was just going to post about tonights Harvest moon- looks huge on the horizon and definitely tinged with gold- same tomorrow night apparently- good opportunity for any of the budding David Baileys out there.

The cloud cover for the earlier part f the evening was odd as well- did you notice it - like thousands of small cotton wool balls - I know theres a certain name for them but can't remeber off thetop of my head. Is that the accomodation for the SWG 3 Party Mike- looks a lot warmer than my tent lol

I think they're called Alto-Cumulos, but I know them as popcorn clouds. Back when I was a kid, the teachers would come up with descriptions of things to help you remember the lessons. Sometimes it worked, like "peach fuzz", which was what they called it when some of us thought we were cool growing a beard, lol.  Yeah, those are the digs for my Mrs., its an oldie but a goody, like both of us.
