Last night was a bit of a fifty fifty call to be honest as I'd done a fair bit of travelling in the day and went to bed fairly early but there were high clouds and I wouldn't say the seeing was the best but the constellations were there to be studied if you were in the mood

Tonights looking good- that would be moving us into record observing territory currnetly 12 nigts last June - end of this week doesn't look great so its touch and go but September 2014 is proving to be a great month - apparantly looking like being one of the driest on record as well.

    BBC Weather -   Although the day should end up pretty clear after dinner- the evening has got Murky witten all over it but its going to be a very warm night if anyone fancies a bottle of wine on their patio in the fresh air.

Some stars were there last night but the seeing was awful so shame but no gold star for last night - even rained in Newport briefly which is something we haven't seen much of in September so far.

Unfortunately, as is so often the case, the observable weather has come a day too late for our Blaenvon meet but thats what makes them so special when they do arrive so fingers crossed for everyone next weekend

Temperature dropped to 3.5C when I left for work yesterday but despite that and a brief showery interlude on Friday the prognosis is still predominantly dry weather for the next 10 days or so - hope this rain is not holding out for Pencelli in October

Cheers Tony. If I can get this up into year 3 hopefully I can see some trends developing much easier in Excel and if I can get some graphs together should be easier to see just can't figure out how to post the excel data into the forum.

I bought a budget priced weather station from Maplins a few years ago. I was £100 reduced to £50 so I gave it a go.  

Not expecting to much from it, I set it up on my observatory and sat back and watch the display in the house via wifi.

To my amazement the thing was very accurate, and predicted the weather better than expected.

I saves an enormous amount of  data and can display everything in graphs etc. I will have to see if will import other data for comparison.

Despite the rain in between the clouds there have been some decent observing chances so far this week - shame the moon is so bright - but the cold air is definitely back in the evenings- winter is nearly upon us
