Comet ISON update!

Recommended Posts

As well as being very bright (compared to Arcturus)

just look at the length of the tail,

about a radius of LASCO C3 image !

Does that bode well for a good view in forthcoming dawn skies before the head rises (sounds of lots of fingers being xxed ! :) )

If I knew what the images meant I might be worried! As it is I haven't a clue. Just would really love to see a spectacular comet, the memory of Hale Bopp is distant and I was too young and drunk back in those days to appreciate it anyway!

Maybe it just hasn't got there yet?

I would imagine that even if it is spent you would still see the dust, it may be all we are seeing now for all we know.

I found a few single images ( such as image 229 on AIA 0171 ) that show a bright star-like object in almost exactly the right place, but I would not trust something that appears in just one frame. But if that is the comet...then its the last ever image of it.
