Hi everyone

Thought I should say "hello". We (my dad, brother and myself) are newbies to the world of practical astronomy but have taken the plunge and are currently building an observatory in the back garden. So I expect I/we'll be spending a good deal of time here learning some tips and wisdom.

I'm a software developer by trade so one thing I'm very interested in looking into is projects for automation and control (hopefully at a fraction of the cost of the off-the-shelf solutions ;)). I'm thinking along the lines of Arduino, that kind of thing. Early days at the moment but I hope to learn much more! :)
