ISS, TOUCAM and 130mm F5

Recommended Posts

Had a go at toucaming the ISS tonight.

Toucam prime focus on 130mm F5 reflector hand guided on my ALT/AZ mount.

Getting to old for this :(

Anyhoo, set the toucam at 75% gain 25 FPS and set it videoing whilst I tried

to get the bloomin thing on screen

Got hundreds of frames to look through for the best catch but here's one to start with...

Bit overcooked sadly...

That is blumming amazing mate. It was hard enough to keep up with it in Bino's.

How did you have the scope mounted - on your shoulder like a bazooker [sp]?

Really nice image, lots of detail - imagine taking another one in a few days once they have docked and comparing them?

That's one hell of an effort Phil. Overexposed a bit, but that is nitpicking, it is a super achievement to get the Station in the frame. There is no mistaking what it is. If you persist in this endeavour I can see a one for the Mags coming up. You can send a signed copy to the teacher lady on board when she gets back down. I am sure she would be chuffed to get a pic of the shuttle at the ISS.

Ron. :(

Looked through the frames but nothing much better than the one I posted.

Very pleased to get this image as handheld tracking a scope with a toucam on top

is a heck of a task...

Now I know that this object is a lot brighter that I expected, the next plan is to

hand track but with my 200mm f5 with Nikon D40 and 3x barlow...

The 200mm has a telrad on top so it will be easier to track by keeping the ISS

in the small circle...

That's the plan anyway :(
