javadudd
Hi,Great forum with lots of great advice. All very new to this but I have three very interested kids who seem very keen at spotting stars or what they think are stars. They use "Star Walk" at the moment to identify what they are looking at.Initially off to see what the local observatory has to offer then decide what to start looking for in the way of scopes feel free to offer any advice for a novice with young kids

javadudd
Thanks for the greetings folks.Incidentally anyone used a programme called "Stellarium" looks like it could come in quite useful though not very portable if tied to a PC ;-)

appalachik
Another vote for Stellarium from me... I like that you can input your scope's specification and also the eyepiece you're using and the see on screen exactly what you should see through the scope when you locate the object - great for kids.Welcome to the forum
