  1. Hello, beautiful, Last night it was a very impressive sight, I believe tonight should be the best? Unfortunately the weather is iffy? This, on the U.S. West coast!
  2. Hello, tonight no need of a scope to watch Venus, sliver of a moon and Jupiter, and tomorrow night will be the best. We are having a clear sky but with strong winds and cold at 4c?
  3. Hello, we can make all the fun of A.I., but it is incredibly helpful for visually impaired or blind people. Would not be able to write or read this note. A.I. here on my computer or on my phone will read to me, describe what I should see, I don't have to fiddle with knobs, etc. My son is incredibly helpful as an electrical engineer by fixing anything that I should not have pushed on my computer or phone. I am sure it helps many others in different situations. I can only see by "averted vision" that we know so well as amateur astronomers. Besides my computer and my phone are my close friends, Alexa as well, is almost in every room of the house. Of course I have fun with Alexa, she tells me funny cute jokes! ;- ) Don't wish anyone AMD.
  4. Hello, it was last night and it was worth it. Image from my neighbor with his C8, I was observing with my SCT 10". Fortunately it was last night because it is raining tonight!, ;- )
  5. Hello, it was incredibly impressive, what a sight, was able to see the moon disappearing and re-emerged an hour later. The contrast of the two colors, and the speed of the motion was so obvious. A sight out of this world, it gave such a sense of space. Hopefully someone will post an image.
  6. Hello, I am jealous: clouds with rain would be great here in Northern California, today it is windy and clear skies! :- (
  7. Hello, thank you for sharing your beautiful solution, and it is in keeping with the gorgeous surroundings.
  8. Hello Stu and everyone, it is in Yosemite at Glacier Point when my association is invited for a weekend and share our scopes with the public. The sky is very dark, breath taking vistas, on a couple of occasions saw the moon rising from behind Half Dome around 2:00a.m.. Lots of tourists from every corners of the globe, it is truly a very special experience Although we have to be careful with the "natives", meaning coyotes and in particular bears and others. If you ever come this way, you absolutely have to visit the numerous National Parks, all are breathtaking. One thing never leave any food in your car otherwise those bears will open your car like a sardine can!
  9. Hello, at least you had some open sky, there was a full lunar eclipse around 3:a.m. But of course it was raining after so many months without rain! Very dry here in Northern California, but nooooo we had to have rain, but really soul not complain!
  10. Hello, so sorry, to my understanding those corrector plates are unique to your scope? It cracked possibly because it was repositioned incorrectly, there are marks on the side to match with the marks on the tube. Have you looked through it if the image is "livable?" Wishing I had better news. :- (
  11. Hello, enjoy your floaters! I see my ophthalmologist every six months and tell me that the macular degeneration has stopped! Great after almost all the damage is done, but now he tells me I should see floaters, not sure what they are and I don't think I have seen any? All I know is I can't see by "averted vision" so a few floaters won't make things worse, won't bother me reading, driving because I can't anymore. At least I still can enjoy star gazing with my scope, so floaters or not won't make much of a difference. '- ) 14 Optometrists
  12. Welcome, and your image of the ISS is truly impressive--thank you for sharing.
  13. Hello, just before night, but the view is pretty nice? (I think!)
  14. Hello, who ever they are, they must be much more intelligent in order to travel inter-stellar! They must see us as primitive without any interest to them! Although it begs the question: will it ever be possible to achieve inter-stellar travel?
  15. Welcome, I would make sure the residents of the 8th floor don't call your local police! ;- )
  16. Hello, most likely space junk?
  17. Hello, Eh! wait a minute, it would not be England with out clouds and rain, just like it would not be California without sun! No rain here for several months, but fog is never very far lurking! Astronomy requires patience, I was told, although sometimes or somewhere it requires more of it.
  18. Welcome to this great forum.
  19. Hello: For that price, one can get a very nice traditional scope! It is a digital EP experience, similar as looking at astro-images on one's computer! Sorry!
  20. Hello, superb, thank you for sharing. The colors are very nice as well.
  21. Hello, I use to get astro catalogues, but now it is only really junk mail, also known as "direct mal" for the professionals. Amazing the amount of paper wasted. The worst was my dear wife was managing huge campaigns and I produced/designed those pieces for large corporations like banks in particular--it is a huge industry in the U.S. On average I get around 3 or 4 solicitations a day from simple letters to very complex pieces, very expensive to print and of course endless amount of catalogues but none astronomical anymore! ;- (
  22. Hello: A gardener (Peter Sellers)r said it best: "I like to watch!" ;- )
  23. Hello, are you talking about the noon, where its light gets spread out because of the clouds?
  24. Hello, maybe the name Orion is cursed? ;- )
  25. So sorry, I was not aware of a British version, the overseas version is not U.S. but Canadian--yes confusing!
