  1. You never know. Anyway, I've since learned a Pegasus micro power box should solve my problems.
  2. I'm extremely late to this discussion, Andrew, but would be interested to know how you manage now. I'm having this dew power solution at present with my C9.25 AVX SCT. The main irritation is there's no simple way to power dew heaters off my lithium ion power tank which powers the mount. It doesn't help either that the mounts aux ports are for guiders, satnav etc. I'm in the back garden, don't want extension leads from the house and just want it all to be portable. Regards
  3. I honestly can't decide what course to take. For now I'd be grateful for a link to a cordless hairdryer that blows hot air, since heat guns are now off the agenda. I don't like having to pester about trivial stuff, I'd much rather post about the performance of my optics or some new apochromat, but thanks for helping.
  4. The USB ports on my power tank cannot be used while the A/C is powering the mount.
  5. Yea, it's just I wanted a cheap temporary fix until I decide what the long term set up should be. I can't believe there's nothing cheap that I can plug into my AVX mount and not have to worry about more equipment.
  6. https://www.widescreen-centre.co.uk/celestron-smart-dewheater-controller-2x.html One of these?
  7. I have the Celestron lithium battery power tank attached to my tripod leg. But the instructions state that the a/c power cannot be used simultaneously with the 2 USB ports. The other ports on the AVX are for satnav etc How do I power the scope and the dew heater at the same time. That's what isn't clear. Sorry if I seem naive about this.
  8. I have a gut feeling you're right. What would you say about this typically more expensive model that allows for adjustable heat: https://amzn.eu/d/csveu8p
  9. Brilliant: I bet I don't even need to plug in into anything, nor buy the dew temperature controller.
  10. Yes, I have one by AstroEsssentials. However it only delays the inevitable dew which always invariably ends my viewing sessions. early. I was thinking, after checking with the red torch: shield off, zap it with heat, shield on again.
  11. I'm not sure the relevant areal to post this but wondered what anyone might think about this product as a temporary dew solution. https://amzn.eu/d/b8FuOcb I need cordless because my extension lead isn't long enough and less wires the better. Cordless hairdryers only seem to blow cold air in cordless mode and bigger heat guns with the battery inc seem a bit pricey since I only need one for telescope dew. My concern is that the small nozzle won't blow out hot air over a wide enough area quickly enough to heat the corrector on my C9,25 SCT. Any members here think this is a good temporary buy?
  12. I've just become aware of this new eye piece. It's close click stops seem a lot more useful for pushing detail out of planets than the Baader mk 12: the latter's gap between 8x and 12x put me off, as well as lack of eye relief. I'm currently awaiting delivery of a Masuyama 32mm as my first low power piece and might get the APM zoom next to get going with my C9.25 which so far I've only used with a Morpheus 14mm.
  13. Removing the tube would be one thing, but fixing it to the new plate afterwards would be another for me. Orion Optics time, I think.
  14. Looks like I'll be sending it off to the pro's after all. The cracked plate seems like it might be glued to the secondary baffle/housing tube thing, and even if it isn't, I daren't twist it in case the crack gets worse. It never ends...
  15. I actually don't think I have a ball bearing at hand. My scopes cooling down outside; I'm going to have one last look through the cracked plate to see if there's any aberration. Tomorrow I'll put the secondary back to it's position before the crack and hopefully all will be well enough to put the new corrector on. If you think I should wait for the Hubble test perhaps I will. I'm not confident about judging the optics myself. I might check again for anyone in my area who can do it. I don't want to crate it off to Orion optics etc... Thanks for your advice and sorry I'm not very clear. A bit fed up with the situation.
