  1. Siouxsie Sorry to hear of your problems. I purchased a CPC925 In January and was surprised that it was actually available. So I did email the supplier (FLO) who confirmed it was a new unused item, and yes it was when I got it. i have suffered from items being listed as in stock when they are not ( not from FLO however) scratches on the corrector plate must obviously mean it’s got to go back. I hope you get a new one soon as it will surely be worth the wait, and be a glorious scope. best of luck
  2. Nigella I am always massively impressed with your images as an “amateur” , I know that word probably doesn’t do your craft justice. I must ask do you submit these images to any scientific institution as they must be very valuable from a record point of view? or do you perhaps have them published? I suppose the same question goes to everyone who produces fantastic images on this forum. Keep up the good work 😁
  3. Think I’ll give this a try as well thanks
  4. Yes , did a fair bit of research before splashing out. Also been practicing on all the different software recommend by SGL members. Going to be a great learning experience! 😁
  5. Very excited to be embarking on a new facet of this hobby with this new camera, may have a few questions later ! 😁
  6. Hang in there Maideneer, I see stock levels are starting to slowly rise. I have noted that the stock system at FLO seems always to be very accurate and I have been always been able to trust it. When placing orders, be careful of other sites which don’t always update in real time, always check by email before ordering. Also research and decide what you want and order that when it comes into stock as it surely will eventually. Dont buy something you don’t really want just as its in stock. Good luck and enjoy this hobby.👍
  7. I’ve often seen those sweeping videos around galaxies on programmes about cosmology and wondered how many times greater than the speed of light would the camera have to be moving to really make the film!
  8. Hi Bill and welcome. hoping to get down to Tenerife in September (if we’re allowed)! I was lucky enough to be around Teide on a moonless night which was fantastic. Scope advice, I’ll let far more experienced members give advice there.😁
  9. Hi James I'm by no means an expert, but was it working correctly before you dismantled it? Also why did you dismantle it?😁 Ive got a CPC 925 and I must admit I wouldn’t expect to have chips on the mirror like that. im sure someone here with more experience will know what’s going on.
  10. I use this one which could be the same as above. very happy with it in terms of size, charge and outputs. Only problem was the eye watering price, which has gone up a bit. lights on it are also really useful. Also came with a lead to power my scope. I would recommend this one.
  11. Great, the first shot reminds me of the second line in the first part of this long poem that I haven’t forgotten from school many years ago. The Highwayman By Alfred Noyes The wind was a torrent of darkness among the gusty trees. The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas. The road was a ribbon of moonlight over the purple moor, And the highwayman came riding— Riding—riding— The highwayman came riding, up to the old inn-door.
  12. Mike yes excellent stuff - again! standard setting for me Cheers.
  13. Tonight’s Moon at 22:00hrs. Respect to Paulastro for this link https://svs.gsfc.nasa.gov/4874
  14. I saw in this Ed Ting video that someone got away with buying an expensive rig because when asked the price by his wife he just quoted the mount price only because “I only thought she was pointing at the mount” 😂
  15. Well done sounds like a fine expedition! You do need a bit of wow factor now and again! 😂
  16. Paul just tried this out thanks, using a ropey smart phone photo from Last Friday compared with the NASA app. it works really well! should be even better results when I put a bit more effort in. (Mine are of course flipped East West)
  17. Michael Thanks, would you say the investment was worth it, I mean did you really see a benefit. also the installation doesn’t look too difficult but interested in your view thanks
  18. Hi A simple request please for any feed back from anyone who has fitted one of these focuser upgrades to a Celestron CPC. I.e. are they worth it and do they make a big difference ? (The price seems eye watering). I did notice a few focusing problems at high mag last night during Moon observations. Is this likely to get worse with age and use? Any first hand experiences greatly received thanks.
  19. I think that’s happening here, do you think the community charge will stop increasing?? 🤔😂
  20. I used to have this type sodium lamp at the end of the garden, now got this type of LED which is a lot less intrusive, and has made a big difference. I think they just changed it because the other one broke. It looks like the LED will be the standard replacement in my area. Just hope the council go back to the 12 o’clock switch off at some point.
  21. My feeble attempts with a smart phone, my first Lunar photos ever😁 Taken this year These were through my Baader Morpheus EPs
  22. Adele you're in great company here I’ve learnt loads in 5 months and been saved from making a few mistakes , ask away and enjoy 😁
