  1. I feel the Baader quality all the time but I don’t know if the extra cost returns much better views?
  2. Thanks all, also what is the favoured unit from these? I’m considering the WO, like the second least expensive wine in the restaurant 😂
  3. Makes my Telrad look like a Cortina compared to a new smooth and curvy Sierra😁
  4. Thanks for the responses, I’ll have a good look at these tomorrow and probably have a few more questions. cheers for the help
  5. I’ve been reading a lot about the benefits of binoviewers and would be interested to get views on what would be a suitable set of EPs for them. I am drawn to starguider EPs as they seem to be good value for money. Obviously I could just double up on my Baader Morpheus but this would be massively expensive. Any advice or recommendations on what would be considered a suitable set of binoviewer Eyepieces gladly received this set up would be used with a C9.25 SCT Thanks.
  6. Congratulations these images look fantastic to me, I’ll be in the Teide National Park next month but not with my telescope😒
  7. So Jupiter, Saturn, Jupiter, Saturn, Saturn, Saturn tonight. Good to show my observing buddy and CPC Humper 😁 that lower power is sometimes better. saturn is always a brilliant crowd pleaser though, lots of Wows. nice to check the moon names with sky safari. another pleasant calm fresh night out, just nice 👍
  8. I did this tour a few years ago while on holiday. I must say it was the most fantastic night sky I have ever seen, very beautiful. It was only visual with your own eyes and a bloke pointing things out with a laser, which was about as powerful as a light sabre! Thoroughly enjoyed it, got loads of wine to drink but as it has been mentioned it was a bit cold, my Mrs was shivering under two blankets.
  9. I can’t really help with sourcing the service provider to do this work. However, I would be interested to know if this work is needed due to damage, modification or old age as I have the CPC version and I wouldn’t expect to have it realigned and reset optically by the manufacturer, just my own basic collimating as per the operations manual. thanks for any info on this.
  10. Impressive array of kit! Especially the one second on the left 😁
  11. William, thanks for the tips. What settings would you normally use in firecapture for Jupiter and Saturn? i.e what gain and exposure would you tend to start with? Thanks
  12. I was sitting on top of a Generator Transformer at Barking Power Station. I remember the very weird sepia light of the partial eclipse. My mate, who had managed to get leave, had gone to Cornwall but I think he was completely clouded out.
  13. Thanks Bryan, I’ve copied the test image files from v2.6 into v2.7 but I’m still getting the same errors.
  14. Hi I’ve been experiencing some issues with the above version of firecapture and wonder if anyone can advise please? I've downloaded the above after using v2.6 previously. When I extracted the files they all ran ok and it opened a new setup programme which asked a few set up questions. When I ran the dummy camera programme I have been receiving error messages such as “missing dummy file /test images/Jupiter/Jupiter. ser” The dummy video does not then show, this is the same for Saturn. I’ve tried to remove the programme and the old version and download again. I’ve noticed that the set up programme doesn’t start after a new install. Its as if the computer (windows 11) has some sort of memory of the down load previously and doesn’t bother to run the set up programme. Not sure why these problems are being exhibited or if they really matter? Any advise greatly appreciated as usual. Thanks 👍
  15. I’ve found clock lock very easy and safe to use, throughly recommend it 👍
  16. Matt I also use the 224MC. It must be easy to use as I have had some good results and I am very new to planetary photography. (There are much more experienced people here to advise you however 😁) I always use an IR cut filter with it. Best of luck with what ever you do, there is loads of information, help and support here. cheers
  17. Perhaps in his selection of “fantastic toys” there is something to COLLIMATE” his attitude, then he could return 🤔
  18. https://svs.gsfc.nasa.gov/4955 I was pointed to this a while ago by a SGL member. I also use the “moon globe” App, which has a good feature which allows me to flip left and right so it looks the same as I see with the SCT and Diagonal.
  19. Readly is a good app which gives you access to literally hundreds of magazines. it costs £7.99 per month and you can have I think about 4 people on the account for that price.
  20. Very impressive look forward to seeing the final construction.
  21. Nice 👍 still waiting for the 24mm 18 months later😒
  22. What less Astro gear??!!! Surely not ! 😂
  23. Would be nice but China is now the “Workshop of the World”, as the workers are unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your point of view) paid about £7k per year. Not sure we could make things cheaply enough.
