  1. Mine's on its way soonish, just hope i don't have issues with the MAC version.
  2. Also take note of the weight of the mount, how easy it would be for you to move it around.
  3. Definitely looks like a bad porous casting. Might want to give it a really good clean to check no grainy particles (possibly casting sand) have ground themselves into the good metal.
  4. Good point about the focus. From what I've found online about the glass thickness, it's 2.7mm. Might be able to find a watch/ clock glass that's a suitable thickness and I know a couple of people that can trim it to size. And the other good point is that the 300d is practically worthless hence the possible DIY route.
  5. Contemplating doing my old 300d, removing the filter and just using manual focus. The only downside is the sensor is only 6MP. I take it replacing it with clear glass is not necessary?
  6. Great composition. I like the natural look of the colour with the darker matter and cluster pulling your attention across the image.
  7. Got some. 37 x 160 in white, might be a bit tight on the OD for what you need for finished size. 50 x 100 in black 50 x 140 in white. PM me what you would like and your address.
  8. I've got some offcuts of solid round bar acetal, what sort of size did you need? I can have a rummage to see what I have.
  9. That's a nice little project. Oilite bushes would be overkill, they are really meant as bearings for slow rotating shafts. Delrin or maybe nylon would suffice as it only really needs to be for reducing any scratch marks on the shaft.
  10. That is absolutely stunning.
  11. It could also be possible that the worm and wheel are too loose and it jumped and started to ride on the peaks of the thread. Or there could be a buildup of crud in the gear, safest thing would be to tear it down and inspect it.
  12. Does the 450D have built in WiFi? If yes then you will have to set that up in camera. If no then you will have to get the correct USB cable to connect to your computer. I found the WiFi connection on my 80D was a bit too laggy for my liking so got a cable and it much better.
  13. Looks like there's a grub screw or pin in the side.
  14. Sounds like you're after some sort of short extension tube that can take drop in filters.
  15. If you're not too far from Guildford, you could always bring parts over and I can do the machining on my lathe. Might even be able to improve the locking mechanism.
  16. Sounds like you can use clip in filters. You have a Canon 1100D ? That has an APS-C crop sensor, the 200 f2.8 is I believe an EF mount ?
  17. Great image, that is a hell of a big project, well done.
  18. The Sigma ART lenses are pretty damn good, I've got a 30mm F1.4 and a 24-105mm F4. Nice and sharp.
  19. Try wrapping the controller in a plastic bag with moisture absorbing sachets, should be able to get some from local DIY store. If not some rice would work. Don't be tempted to turn it on for a couple of days just in case.
