  1. Great image of M101. I think I prefer the LRGB, just looks a little more subtle.
  2. Lovely images with a nice row of proms.
  3. Added everything and it all seems to be working, might just be a slightly dodgy usb port on the laptop. Had everything hooked to the powered usb hub as well. Thanks for your advise chaps, hopefully I'll be able to make a start with this rig when the skies clear again.
  4. Happy to say that I set up a Trius only profile and after a couple of attempts it connected and with a pinhole in foil I can take images and loop in both 1x1 and 2x2 binning. Doesn't like 4x4 though. Must add that it doesn't seem to like one of my laptops usb ports. Now to try adding the rest. I've been contemplating a new MacBook Pro octocore i9. Don't want to spend over £2K if that doesn't work either.
  5. Made a couple of 1mm thick wire rings and that brought the spacer up to 9.5mm which I thing has worked. The focus module in Ekos seemed to like it but then my CCD freezes so I couldn't get any test images.
  6. Trying to get everything working with Ekos and keep having problems with the CCD (Trius 694). It does not seem to want to take any pictures except for getting the focus set and then it freezes. I figured out that the Trius and GPCAM3 224c guide cam do not like both being plugged into the usb hub so the guide cam is plugged directly to my MacAir. Could this be a glitch with Ekos or is my laptop not up to the task? Its a little old but I'm not sure if it has enough processing power for everything.
  7. Somehow I don't think there's much Ha in the Iris. Goos write up by Trevor here: https://astrobackyard.com/iris-nebula/
  8. Very nice, wonderfully subtle colours.
  9. Lovely proms, like the shape of the second one.
  10. I think you can do it with Canon's DPP4 utility. But as said, stacking software can do it automatically.
  11. Thats a delicate looking thing, lovely image.
  12. Only used Siril a few times and I agree with @alacant, done the same myself. There are only a couple of good tutorials on Youtube, one really easy method was just chose the directory and use a script from the menu.
  13. Hi all, just had an idea after last nights escapade to get polar alignment on my AZ EQ6 using Ekos. Why not mount my SkyGuider with iPolar to the AZ EQ6 ?
  14. Only camera shop I know is London Camera Exchange in Guildford, even if they had one they would be closed. Just tried Ebay and there is a seller Optics-land in London, don't know if you can still collect though.
  15. Not a million miles away, I would say lets meet up for a session but we might get arrested.😷 I did find what looks to be a fairly dark site at Thursley Common, park up at The Moat Carpark then follow the dragonfly trail to the dragonfly sculpture and up the hill. Pretty decent clear views all round.
  16. Couple of great images you've captured. Well done.
  17. Get some flowers and chocolates as well as building materials, and hurry.
  18. Cheers Michael, also had a reply from Altair that I would need 9.5mm between the reducer and filter. Played around a bit tonight and managed to get what seemed like reasonable focus with a couple of short spacers, I think they totalled 12.5mm. Will try the 7.5mm with a couple of thin washers tomorrow.
  19. Just finished another visit to Gimp and reprocessed the stretch a little differently. There was a little more to be had. The nasty glow at the bottom is the street light.
  20. A very good start, colour and definition are good but just a little background grid pattern showing. I'm sure that can be processed out somehow.
  21. Hi, I'm trying to figure out the spacing needed to set up my camera and scope properly. I have a Altair Wave 115edt, Planostar 0.79x, SXCCD Filterwheel and Trius 694. The Trius has 17.5mm back focus, the filter wheel is 29mm thick to the flanges . Am I correct in saying that this set up needs no spacers as it adds up to 38.5mm? Now if I don't use the Planostar, will I need extra extensions ?
  22. Tried everything I could thing of and there just isn't anything more that my initial image.
