NEW StellaLyra Dobsonian Telescopes
Barry-W-Fenner replied to FLO's topic in Sponsor Announcements and Offers
I assumed they were genuine Carbon as there is quite an uplift in price over the 12" - I must say the weave looks beautiful on the 16" ! A very nice set of trusses indeed! -

Baader Morpheus range - General chat
Barry-W-Fenner replied to Barry-W-Fenner's topic in Discussions - Eyepieces
Truth is I don't fully understand all of that, I do however appreciate an informed/wise opinion. So I guess we won't be seeing anything larger than the 17.5 in the Morpheus range. Any recommendations for something arround the 25mm that performs similar? Cheers Dom -
Three Nights with Skysurfer V

Great review and enjoyable read. Baader seem to have a reputation of producing high quality products with generous extras for a mid range price. I purchased the ss3, Although not on the level of the excellent ss5 it is another fabulous Baader product. 👍 -

Evening (here) Don That was an interesting read. I understand that the 17.5 was added to the range a few yrs?? After the other 5 EP's and this is down to the redesign. I also read that the 17.5mm was the longest FL that Baader could produce due to the design of the EP. In your opinion do you think it is possible for Baader to continue producing longer FLs in this EP range such as a 20mm or even 25mm - I assume anything over a 25mm would need to be a 2" maybe? Cheers Baz -

Work earlier made me forgot to say, a big thank you for all your help and advice via the boards and PM that you have provided me with John, it has been greatly appreciated over the last couple of years. Always a polite and respectful response however daft some of my questions have felt/been. There will be a cold one sitting on my dob base coaster for you at the weekend 😁 👍

John has made it 50k light years from Earth, Long may the journey continue... Regards Barry

Dont do that to me Louis.. I have recently been pondering the 12.5mm to replace the 14mm, However I dont know if it is really worth doing. Regards -
That sounds amazing. My current LP is bortle 6 - 19.11 and the place I visit in Devon is Bortle 3 - 21.81 A huge differance. It is dis-heartning coming back to my bortle 6 sky. The only saving grace is that my local council are currenly rolling out the new LED street light program. They aim to reduce LP and actually point the light towards the foot path. Its certainly wont make for a Devon sky, However every little helps. The ideal solution would be to move down that way!

Wow, This thread has taken on a life of its own since my last post. I will have to have a read through! I have just been looking at the 12.5 on FLOS web page, it is currently out of stock along with every other FL. All that is in stock is 1no 6.5mm. The Morpheus range really do seem to be getting about! Regards Baz -
I feel your pain (joy!) I have recently returned to my bortle 6 sky from an amazing bortle 3 in Holsworthy, West Devon. I didnt manage to catch the milky way on this occasion as the moon was fat! However the amount of stars visible to the naked eye is incredible. To add to the difficulty in finding your target the number of stars multiply again when you look through the finder scope 🙂 I was armed with my 12" - However I ended up laying on the bench table with my 8x40 bins just scanning the sky and enjoyng the rural peace and quiet. What a beautiful place! Baz

Hi all. Its been a little while sinse I was last on here. So a big hello to all. I have recently acquired these Solus binoculars and being that I have no idea about bins was wondering if anyone could tell me much about them. Optically they seem pretty good. My first target was a cheeky little gold finch on an ariel and the image was nice and clear. I see they have a "Japan" marking on them so hopefully that's a good sign. Just would like to know anything about them really. Cheers

Congrats on the 12.5mm. I would really like to compare the 12.5 to the 14mm. I hear very good things regarding the 12.5 I can't decide which is my favourite in the range out of the 9 & 17.5 they are both extremely good performers and a worthy addition to any EP collection 👍 -
Show me your eyepiece/accessories case, please.

Another tidy little Baader product. A red dot finder for the frac. The 9x50 right angle finder was to big and heavy. I have fitted this to the scope with a Baader universal clap. The tightening screws on the clamp are smooth as butter. Very satisfying to turn 😂 Now I just need to find the time to try this finder out!

You frightened me for a moment there Stu! 😂 Glad you found it comfortable to use. The huge lens really is a joy to view through. Hopefully you get a bit more viewing time with it soon to evaluate the views! -
Beautiful image. Who knows, In time this might be as iconic as pics such as Earth rise & the pale Blue dot!

Enlightening Read Don. Thanks. I have read that you view through a 12.5" scope on a few occasions now. Out of interest what scope do you have? Cheers -

Hi all. Hope you are all keeping well 😃 I haven't had much time with the scope recently. We have been moving office/warehouse at work so been very busy with that, along with being absolutely full of the lurg at the moment I've felt pretty rotten. Great to catch up on this thread though and see the excellent input from all, it has made for some interesting reading and is great to see it has taken on a life of its own👍 As mentioned I have missed out on a few rare moonless clear nights recently 😢 however I managed 1 short session where I used the 6.5 in my frac with the eye cup installed. I managed to find a fairly comfy eye placement with it installed, abiet still a little finicky. I was using ot to view doubles in Leo and very much enjoyed it. I will have another go next time out to try and get more used to the extension on this EP. Baz -
