  1. Thank you John. I was really chuffed to find these two galaxys. It was certainly more luck than judgement. I will look for them again using niks and your helpful guides above. It was great to see an irregular shaped galaxy, I did have a look with my 14mm which gave x107 but couldn't see any detail. That's probably down to an untrained eye. I hope to see more on a moonless night now I know what to expect 👍
  2. Found them both for the 1st time this evening. Truth be told, more luck than judgement. I managed to get roughly in the right area then found M81 while scanning around with the 17.5 morph (in the 12" dob) while observing M81 I was expecting to see M82 aswell, however it was just outside the FOV with the 17.50 - I did manage to get them both in the same FOV when I realised that I had found them both. M82 was fascinating, I can now see why it's called the cigar. It looked really impressive and a very unusual Shape. I will certainly be visiting again when there is no moon. I bet these galaxy's look amazing from a dark sky..
  3. A beautiful evening here in Kent. The 12" ready to rock and roll. The scotch is about to be on the rocks also 😁 👍
  4. Nice report Nik, You managed some great targets with your bins in that couple of hours. I have not managed to view these two galaxys yet. Every time I have tried to find them I have come up short. As you mentioned it doesnt help that they are now up at the Zenith! I am hoping to get a clear evening over the weekend to give them another shot. Your "map" is excellent and I will give the bow and arrow stratagy a try! Cheers Baz
  5. Thank you HollyHound. The large FOV is one of the things that appeals to me with the Morpheus range, along with the comfortable eye relief. The 17.5mm in particular is an amazing performer. I also highly rate the 9mm. A very crisp EP to view with and my main go to. The x167mag is a nice power to view at through the Dob. I doubt I will ever have the privilege of looking through the other black & Green brand of EP! I bet they give some amazing clear views, expecially complemented with the parracor. I got fancy a low power APM next. Not sure if they do anything in the 40mm focal range though. Best not approach the wife about that just yet though. Only just taken possession of the 4.5 morph 😂😁
  6. I'm weak Jeremy. Couldn't help myself. Must resist the 12mm!! 😂
  7. My shameful EP case evolution 😁 Roll on clear skies so I can look through them rather than at them!
  8. Very nice. Just what I am after next for my Bresser frac
  9. No problem I understand. I can look into possibility posting if we came to an Agreement. PM me if interested. Regards Baz
  10. Hi John What type of 200mm scope are you looking for? I have a sky watcher 200p currently for sale in the classifieds if that's of interest. Regards Baz
  11. About 4 Hours drive to m bortle 3 location in Devon but so worth it. Andromeda & the milky way both naked eye visible. A stunning site which makes me not want to come back to my bortle 6 skies 😞
  12. So far I havent been very successful looking for Galaxys I hope to change that this "season" With my 12" dob and 17.5 morpheus. I am viewing from bortle 6 ish skies. Not ideal but hopefully I can find some of them.
  13. I have the 9mm Morpheus, it is a fantastic EP. My go to and joint favourite with the 17.5mm Morpheus. The 14mm is also great a Louis has mentioned. I have the 6.5 aswell but it doesn't get a huge amount of use in my dob. I'm hoping to use it more in my new frac, this is why I would also like the 4.5mm
  14. I am seriously tempted by the 12mm Morph. But I already have the 14mm - I dont know if I can justify it. The 4.5mm Morph however!! 🙂 Baz
  15. Great report John, admire your dedication. I hope to have your experience one day! I'm hopeless at galaxy hunting. Still not seen M81 & 82 Going to give them all ago this season with the 12" dob and 17.5mm morph. I'm really looking forward to the doubles in Leo to.
  16. 4.5mm Morpheus. Or fine focus upgrade for my Bresser frac. I can't decide which!! 😃
  17. This is an interesting read. I have recently purchased the AZ4 for my refractor. I have only used it twice briefly so far due to the weather. It is a really nice mount and very sturdy. It could do with being a bit smoother though for fine adjustments and I was thinking of greasing the bearings. What grease have you used? I believe the mount I purchased is an AZ4 "mk2" with the stainless steel legs rather than ally. It also has bearings instead of teflon but I assumed that was just how they have always been produced. Barry
  18. I look forward to the "Show us your patio pots" thread. I will have plenty to contribute 😁 As you say Stu, a stunning clear Friday night what more could we ask for. Just had a look at the seven sisters through the refreshments with the 17.5mm Morpheus.. The veiw is simply stunning.
  19. I'm so confused, does this need to go in the "show us your dob" "show us your frac" "show us you set up in the day" Or "show us you set up at dusk 😁" thread
  20. Hi Second Time Around. Thank you, That,s very helpful & generous of you. I will send a PM Baz
  21. Thanks for you help John, Much appreciated. That is ideally what I would prefer as I dont want to do any thing to the scope. The thought of drilling or modifying it scares me 🙂 Baz
