The 300p was quite large to get in the car. So a Toyota Alphard and camper conversion was in order. The 300p just sits in the back! The dark skies wont come to me, So I intend to drive to them.. Baz

Great pic! I managed to locate Saturn once while still light. I knew its rough location and was waiting for dark to observe. I was shocked at how much detail was visible. I have often wondered about viewing planets in the day time but imagine it would be a very hard task!

Nice read that John. I have had no observing time as of late due to extra work in the evenings. I am quite keen to get the 12" dob out on Uranus and hopefully Neptune as some point with my highest power (4.5mm morph) Your report makes me optimistic that i may spot some moons! Baz

I was in Devon a few months back at a bortle 3 location with my 12" dob I when straight for the easy target of Jupiter to get me started and couldnt believe the level of detail across the disc. Back home at my bortle 6 location i can get some bands and colouring but need to sit for a while and observe. at the dark site it just popped with detail like i had never seen before. I didnt think that LP would effect planet viewing as much as it did! Baz

Anyone in the market for the stunning 17.5?

Ok, so it's taken a whole but the extension ring has arrived from Chinabay. Inserted the ring between the CC and holder. It certainly looks the part. I have put a morph in the ep holder and the spacer has made a big difference to how close the ep is to the CC. I will add my 2" click lock to this set up and this will hopefully be my new optical train. I will be using the morphs in "2" mode" going forward. Almost dark now, and clear to so hope to try it out! It really is a stand out performer in the range. Don't tell the other morphs I said that 👍

Great couple of pics and report! Amazing how much power you managed to use. I only ever get to about 230x on M13 and it starts to look fuzzy. A dark sky really does help make all the difference. For some reason the top pic of your dob reminds me of a steam train with coal tender! It's just the shape in general I think!

Afternoon all, Some stunning clear Blue skies here at the moment, Looing forwrd to setting up the 300p later for some moonless views. I am going to experiment tonight by taking of the extension rings on my 9 & 17.5 morphs and attepming some viewing with my glasses on. I have very weak/low power "consentration" glasses as I have been diagnosed long sighted. Looking up at the night sky with my glasses on last night stars were a ver nice sharp point of light, I never realised how fussy they were to my eye until I put the glasses on. I am looking forward to seeing if this sharpness is replicated through the ep! Cheers

Good to hear your thoughts on the 12.5. You are also viewing with it through the same scope as me. Always nice to get another option of the morph/300p combo. I don't know how the 9mm will sit between your other eps, however it does give a very clear view at x167 mag in the 300p it's my go to ep.

So in this design, Baader cant go longer than a 17.5 - Which is a real shame, If they could produce longer and it performed as well as the 17.5 they would be onto a winner. Can they go the other way though? Would there be any incentive to produce an EP around the 3mm FL? Baz

Any updates for the folks that have recently purchased a new morpheus? Have you had time to test yet, would be interested to hear thoughts, particularly on the 12.5. My coma corrector arrived, however the extension ring hasn't yet. Looking forward to giving it ago. Fitted some nice handles to the 300p tube while the sky has been cloudy..

I will be interested to hear how you get on with thie EP Jeremy. I quite fancy an APM around this FL - Or the 30mm

For me its the shoddy woodwork skills and fear of however many years of bad luck you get for dropping a really expensive primary mirror! 🙂 I will stick with the 300p...

Lovely looking set. The 9mm Morpheus should just about fit in that space! 😁 My pluck foam is also looking a bit worse for wear after the BST to Morpheus upgrade. It was very tidy when the BST range sat in it. Baz

They were from fleebay, I ordered before I See your Link John. I am however looking to fit a couple of handles as heigh as possible to the bottom section of the tube so I can carry it out. Rather than bend to pick up the tube. The weight isn't an issue, it's just I have an iffy lower back so the bending is uncomfortable. Any suggestions as to the best location for these handles? I will look at the wide verity on wds.

A mini packet of Haribo. It included a free coma corrector! Mind you, it was an expensive pack of Haribo 🤔😁

Lets hope you can try this EP out soon under a clear dark sky, The 6.5 & 4.5 are both definitely where the eye position are a bit more fiddly in my opinion, Especially the 6.5 for some reason.
