  1. Also these filter r norm only used for nebulas not galaxies Joejaguar
  2. If it's that that u circled in red then yes just tighten it and it should be ok Joejaguar
  3. I wouldn't mess with collamation new people may not even know how to properly do it. As far as how high the tube should be I think all the way up, if it's not it wont be 650mm focal length tube but but less if ots not up all the way Joejaguar
  4. I norm use the least weights even if it's near the bottom, it's much easier to carry. Joejaguar
  5. What's weird is a sct or mak norm doesnt need a Barlow. Try each eye alone is it same thing? U can also try the Barlow thing doesnt hurt to try Joejaguar
  6. I like the Kendrick ones as they are felt lined and help prolong the dew longer. If it doesnt have the notch u can just cut it out Joejaguar
  7. I agree with others going from a 4.5 to 5.1 is not going to be a huge difference. Its gonna be small. I also agree if u upgrade then next step is 150mm size, a eq3 or4 is fine for that size. Joejaguar
  8. kronus did u still need with scope? since iam ready to sell my place as soon as I find a place I have already packed everything that I don't really need including 9 of the 10 scopes I have, that includes the 130 sw heritage scope. so its already boxed up reday to go joejaguar
  9. hi peter yes that is correct. I guess on a video I made about the Coronado solar max11 with bf10. I kinda explain its kinda like viewing through a 4mm plossl ep which is pretty hard, but viewing through a 10mm plools even tho its still small is much better then the 4mm version. Just an example I think gives people a good idea what to expect. so in this case if you can and its between the bf4 or bf6 then get the 6 as its kinda like a 4mm pl vs a 6mm pl the 6mm will be a tad easier to look through, and it shouldn't cost much more since its only a 2mm difference. joejaguar
  10. As per your first part of the 5 inch dob being better than the 8 scope cause u had darker skies. Well that's normal That's the most important thing when talking about deep sky objects. My 80mm f/5 refractor was 1000x better in a green zone compared to my 16 inch dob in a white zone Joejaguar
  11. hey kronus I am getting home late today so I don't think I can look at my scope tonight but ill try tomorrow and see how my 2nd mirror is and y your is maybe loose. its to bad noone else has replied yet btw any chance u could be a 30 sec video showing how its loose? joejaguar
  12. ya it does say it does, u can just write an email to confirm 100%. joejaguar
  13. No u can use it on a mak like I said on first post I had a 7 inch mak since his is a 180 it should be the same model. I had then 178mm f 15 meade uhtc mak which use the same focuser for the 8 inch sct. It fit and worked. It had no issues installing it either. Joejaguar
  14. And its was really simple to take out the knob and replace it. I would say virtually everyone should be able to install it without any issues. I guess as long u get the right model for your scope. U sometimes find them on the used market norm more on those us sites and if u try that, u need to Google to see if it's the right now for u. This may be the hardest part but if u buy new from feather touch or a dealer they will figure out which model u need once u tell them your scope. Joejaguar
  15. I ordered it from a USA dealer forgot which one but almost all of them can order it from feather touch. U may even order from feather touch them selves too. I dont live in USA so I had to pay abit customs fees. Most people consider feather touch the best, I probably agree with moonlight being 2nd Joe
  16. I put on a 7 mak and some of my scts the feather touch micros focusers. It relaces the regular one on the scope to a dual speed and its buttery smooth. Being a mak it should also work on your but either check website or call them first. They have dozens of models for different makes and models. Some of them are even specific to a certain size too. They norm cost about 250 to 300 us. Nice thing it doesnt add any length or weight to scope as it just replaces the focus knob. Joejaguar
  17. I used a bf5 which is 5mm 4 being 4mm 6 is 6mm. I dont think u should consider 400 at all even the 600 would be boaderline. Pay extra get the 1200mm or 12mm since lunt doesnt have a 10mm. If if your budget really really cant handle the 1200 then get 600 but it's almost like a pinhole sight through. I mean I used a bf5 on my first scope and lasted a yr but I then sold it used and bought the bf10. So the 600 could work BUT if u also find it hard to look through and do what i did sell 600 u will lose 30 to 35% then u have to buy the 1200 anyway. When u just upgrade from the store or manufacturer its norm like 250 difference from bf5 to bf10 etc So u save alot more by just getting the bigger one right from the start Joejaguar
  18. If your handy u could buy quality 1/2 ply wood from a store, I did that. U could probably make 2 cases maybe even 3. Even with nails screws glue corner brackets, hinges, locks and handles and stain that probably only be $50 add another $50 for the plywood and that's only $100 total. $33 each case You can also make it perfect size u want instead of settling. Ops forgot the foam for like $30 to 40 buy camping foam 2x6ft long. Joejaguar
  19. U could do planets if they around since they are pretty much gone then u could do double star viewing. Theres r hundreds in reach of scopes. Joejaguar
  20. hopefully u get help from people that image for me even tho I have 2 taks I don't image or I hav not used the FD so I cant help on this joejaguar
  21. also on the hand controller since you have a wedge put it on eq mode see if that fixes it Joejaguar
  22. I would say don't clean the 2nd mirror just align it it if it got loose. they sell light shrouds but you can just get one or make one from a fabric store buy felt wrap it wround and use Velcro etc joejaguar
  23. hum I have never used my nextar 8 or nextar8se with wedge... have u just tried to to slew to vega push alaign? then do 2nd star see if it gets successful and put objects in the ep. that's what really matters also do u know most gotos when slewing to alignment stars can be off by 5 degree up to 15 or 20 degree? joejaguar
  24. ya agree then I guess just order any diagonal if you really don't care u can find even brand new ones from the used market a lot times when u buy a scope if it comes with 1.25" most the people in the hobby for awhile (like me ) just sell it off norm $20 to $25 casue we don't need it and have something better try astro buy and sell UK joejaguar
  25. cause it matches the scope it like matching clothes. do you remember when compamies like meade had those hard dewcaps they matched the ota also I keep almost all my scopes in side living or bedroom so they are like show pieces too. Since it clear only average 1 to 2 days a week most of our gear just sits may as well make it look good least to me. I cant see it loseing money a plastic dewcap is 30 to 50, how does having a white dewcap lose money being white. From what I see when u sell the scope u either sell the accessiors separlly anyway or raise the price abit and just include them. I have seen where people have re painted the refractor OTA then I agree I probally ask for a discount in that case cause I don't want a purple refractor. This is more perm I guess its same way some people like me like to have whole sets of eps, where some have 1 ep from a name brand, then another ep from another (bascailly none matching ep set) and that's ok if they like it that way too. Me on the other hand I like my dewcap to look like the hard dewcaps that were the same colour joejaguar
