  1. Hi Chris, welcome to SGL, no head to feel isolated when you have lots of knowledgeable and friendly people on this site to talk to.
  2. If you bought it from a reputable dealer and you are not happy with it then you should send it back for replacement. Making your own repairs will nullify your guarantee.
  3. I hope you realise that you have just extended the number of cloudy nights by a fortnight 😒
  4. Hi Craig, welcome to SGL.
  5. Hi Dave, welcome to SGL.
  6. GSO do a 30 mm 68 degree 2” eyepiece for just over £50.00. Might be worth a look.
  7. I have 7 x 50 and 10 x 50 binoculars and they are both very manageable for hand held observing.
  8. I bought a laser collimator for my 200P dob and after checking the laser for accuracy I completed collimation in about 10 minutes, maybe I was just lucky.

    Hi Chris, welcome to SGL.
  11. I find it much quicker to put my binos on a mount than a telescope.
  12. I have mine in the same position as you and don't have a problem with it as I just go round to the side it's on. Join a couple of cable ties together and use them to prevent it falling off.
  13. Thank you for all your suggestions but I think I have solved the problem by repositioning the motor so it is no longer in the way. Sometimes you just need to sit and study the problem.
  14. The diagonal is not as close as it looks in that pic but that is not the issue. If I want to use my Mak on the eq3-2 Mount I can’t use the motor focuser unless I reposition the dovetail bar.
  15. Hi Joe, as stated in my last post the motor is in the way with the focus knob at the bottom so it would mean removing the motor which I really don’t want to do.
  16. Thank you for your comments Geoff. I fitted a motor focuser as the vibration was quite bad and is no problem with the motor fitted. The reason I asked about removing the back of the scope is because the dovetail bar needs to be removed to fit tube rings, so I thought if you need to remove the bar why not reposition it. Hopefully someone has had this problem will be able to help.
  17. Just had a thought that it would be easier to move the dovetail to the right position but I am unsure if you can remove the back off a 127 Mak without causing any problems. Has anyone removed the back or is it not recommended ?
  18. I should have mentioned that I have a motor focuser which does not fit in the present position. I think tube rings are needed to sort things out. Does anyone know if the dovetail fixing nuts are loose or attached to the tube ?
  19. I was looking at the manual and it shows the OTA mounted the way I described. Looks like I need to get some tube rings.
  20. I recently acquired a EQ3-2 mount for my Skymak 127. When it's on my AZ mount it is not a problem but on the EQ mount it does not resemble the illustration in the manual. Firstly when it is set up the focuser knob is at 6 oclock instead of 3 oclock and the finder scope is on the right hand side instead of the left side. Can anyone help me prevent pulling my air out ? I have attached a couple of pics to help explain.
