  1. Lovely captures Ibbo, thanks for sharing.
  2. Yes does sound similar to the baader k-line filter. Even though it' says CaK it's to broad a wavelength at 7nm so will only show more contrast in the white light spectrum. Nothing wrong with that, I use the baader k-line filter for white light imaging. Recently imaged yesterday using it with a Hershel wedge and an 80ed refractor.
  3. We've come out of the lowest point in solar activity so things are hoting up. No pun intended, lol. Activity is above expectations 🤣
  4. Yeah, I've yet to process yesterday's and today's too. Well done though.
  5. Yeah, activity is above expectations according to the professional solar expert's. I thought it must be too but no expert.
  6. Hi just two phone shots of computer screen to say what a wonderful view today. A particularly huge prom too.
  7. I'd look out for a good second hand Lunt 60mm or 80mm to TBH.
  8. Be great scope when it's all up and running, well done.
  9. Yeah, mine still had the original sticker on the side of the mirror stating ref number, year of manufacture, 2006 and 1/6PV . Forgot nearly 16 yrs now, lol. I bought mine second hand, changed the focuser with a moonlite, added a rear 12v fan, secondary heater, new losmandy plates top and bottom and internal temperature gauge.
  10. Brilliant, I thought my mirror needed to be re coated until I cleaned it as it was getting on in years, lol.
  11. I do love the Ca-k too Pete, I don't understand why there's less people using the wavelength except for cost but it works out cheaper and easier than HA.
  12. That's good to know Stu, I was a little worried about it but it's a good method.
  13. I've only just cleaned my OOUK 12inch mirror which is 15years old. I just used water with a little washing up liquid. I read about using cotton wool balls so tried that but didn't shift some of the gunk. I'd read somewhere it was ok to use your fingers with the solution to lightly rub the area after washing off any contamination. That worked a treat.
  14. Yes, if the sun is like this now it'll be amazing at sunspot maximum in two to three years time.
  15. Thanks Sunshine, much appreciated. Difficult during the winter as the sun is so low at the moment but there are moments of good seeing.
  16. Thanks Laurieast, Spacecat was there with me, lol 🤣
