  1. Well with Christmas day nearly here I don't know what the postie has brought until then. Well, at least from other's anyway (Santa, lol). Here's the list. 1. Daystar flat field screen for solar imaging. 2. New PC monitor for the dome. 3. New solar book. 4. Telescope eyepiece centering adapter. 5. Chocolates. 6. Clear skies for the New Year. 7. 17inch plainwave RC, lol. 8. Lunt 100mm double stack solar telescope, lol. Pushing my luck with the last three, lol. Hope I've been nice and not naughty. Although it's a selfish list. I should say a new year without covid, everyone has a home to go to, world peace, hunger eliminated and global warming reversed.
  2. As far as night observing I bought a new mount in September not used it in anger since apart from polar alignment. I find there's more opportunities for solar than night but that might be because if there's a break in the clouds I'm awake to see it and open up the obsy.
  3. Yep, us solar viewer's can't wait, lol. Yay. It's difficult at the mo with the sun so low down I've only an hour and a half window between tree's and the horizon. Image taken in November.
  4. I can see how you thought that, lol. If it looked like the table too I'd have binned it, lol.
  5. All reinstalled back in the telescope today and laser collimated. Probably have to tweak under star condition's.
  6. And this mirror is fifteen years old, pretty amazing.
  7. Hi all, after polar alignment of the new Eq8 R pro mount head I decided that the 12inch f4 Newtonian mirror needed cleaning after not being used for over two years. Quite a lot of grunge on the mirror 🪞 but cleaned up well. Amazing what a brillo pad will do (only joking). It's nuts that after cleaning I get airborne dust. I need one of NASA's clean room.
  8. I have the wedge on my neq6 great mod. Sorry about the video, it's all I had showing the upgraded wedge. received_1884199208405099.mp4.32807fc610cfa05f3416b8b470456b2f.mp4
  9. I just put in an armoured cable from the house to both RoR and dome.
  10. Great to have really good people on this forum to highlight mistakes and give pointer's to how to rectify it. Much appreciated. Hopefully get to redo the connection this week as directed by what you've advised.
  11. Thanks for the tip, I definitely needed three hand's, lol.
  12. Thanks Alan, appreciated, will look at the exposed wire bit and adjust.
  13. Hi Alan, yes, purely solar set up in the RoR.
  14. Hi all, finally got around to doing the much needed power connector mod. The plastic original was quite wobbly with the power cord in. I chose a 12mm x 2 connector. 1. New hole for the connection drilled using my drill press. 2. Wires soldered to the connector first before threading this into the new hole. The wire's were then taken over the back of the board and soldered onto the back of the original power input. 3. New 12volt cigarette male connector was made with the new male connector to the mount. Simples, lol.
  15. Thanks, much appreciated. Everyone is so encouraging, that's nice. Thanks all.
  16. Thanks Alexandra, I'll be posting on solar chat to soon, been a while.
  17. Thanks Luke, great you're back in after being locked out, at least I wasn't missed, lol.
  18. Thanks Jeremy, much appreciated. I've been missing being able to get out to observe so all that's stopping me now is the weather, lol.
  19. Hi all, apologies for not posting for some time. I had an op and probably need another one in the new year. Anyway, I'm back observing/imaging the sun after several months break. These are from November which I've only just processed. Here's looking to do more again. Thanks to all who've enquired about my lack of contributions.
  20. Oh, okie dokie, hopefully you'll get sorted.
