  1. Brilliant image, lots of detail. Thanks for sharing.
  2. Brilliant, nothing like learning new processing skills.
  3. Another question. I've a vixen dual dovetail bar that I've used many years ago which was languishing in my cupboard. Could this be used on the Az Gti to take the TS 70mm plus a camera with small telephoto lens. I know the Gti mount capacity is 5kg. I think the complete weight of both with two attached dslrs would be around 5kg.
  4. Lovely image of one of my favourite objects. I aspire to this kind of imaging.
  5. I think you can do a little more work on post processing, sharpening, contrast, etc. I've taken the liberty to process one of your image's a little more and hope you don't mind. Just to show you what I mean.
  6. I use a 0.5 reducer to get full disk, might help if you want full disk image. They're not that expensive. Good first result though. Thanks for posting. Hope you don't mind, I added false colour in photoshop
  7. Both Jupiter and Saturn look out of focus. That said these planet's are so low from 53degree latitudes we have to get really steady seeing. I've a 12inch Newtonian and not got good results so far again it's low from the southwest of England. My excuse anyway, lol. I did use an ADC which does help a bit. Here's my bad image from last month. Don't get disheartened planetary imaging is very challenging, take time to learn about your telescope, imaging taking, barlows/powermates, seeing conditions and also the processing the data. Entirely new learning curve to that of deep sky imaging. I'm still learning. Mar's will be better placed for imaging next year, so get your skills now and you'll be ready for Mar's next year. No experience is waisted.
  8. The Skywatcher solar quest mount is a great mount, I use one with my lunt 60mm and 70mm refractor. Would take all three of your scopes as long as it's vixen/skywatcher dovetail bar. You can upgrade to losmandy by buying the appropriate adapter kit. Keeps my lunt dead centre for visual and imaging, I'm able even to use a 3 Barlow for close up imaging of proms, etc. Highly recommend this mount. Only one negative is the tripod. I found it not sufficient but as I'd an unused eq6 tripod I put the Solarquest mount head on that. I've added some image's taken with my lunt on the Solarquest mount.
  9. That's a shame, I'd have said the evostar 150ed ds pro too.
  10. Hi all, heads up for the 65% partial lunar eclipse Tuesday evening visible from around 9.30pm until midnight bst. Be good imaging session if clear.
  11. Thanks, was just going to post about this but saw you'd already done this, lol. Hope we have clearer skies than when I tried to observe the total, I had 95% to full cloud cover for that. Once again thanks, I'd only just remembered and I've gone down to Devon. I was going to stay until Wednesday morning but if it looks as though it'll be clear I'll travel back Tuesday afternoon, lol. Didn't bring my grab and go scope unfortunately.
  12. Hi and welcome to sgl. You'll find lot's of helpful people here.
  13. Hi all, I've a bortle 6+ sky and 45sec subs look almost washed out using my Canon 1000d modded camera and 12inch f4 Newtonian. Would an idas D2 led light pollution filter help. They are quite expensive so don't really want to make any purchase mistake. I do have led lighting and the sky appears a white glow. I've been using an ordinary 2inch lpf. Advice help would be much appreciated.
  14. Beautiful image, well done, I aspire to be able to capture image's like that.
  15. Hi and welcome, at least you get to see the glorious northern light's. I've only ever seen it once from Scotland. I live in the southwest of England. Solar observing would be good for the summer month's though. Have fun.
  16. One of my first reference star atlas was nortans star atlas. It was the must have atlas at the time in the mid 70's.
  17. I was thinking of making my own with a 12mm long bolt as I've already got a small weight.
  18. Many thanks once again, I think I'd prefer to use the handset so I think that's clinched the push button on the AZ GTI head, plus wedge, plus cable. I'll use my v3 handset and I already have a solid Tripod that will take the wedge thread. Be set hopefully for hols end of August.
  19. Hi all, another question, I've a skywatcher v3 handset that I use with my Neq6, could this also be used with the AZ-GTI mount or would I have to buy a v4 or v5 handset?
  20. I've a 12inch f4 orion optics UK Newtonian and fitted a moonlight focuser to it but I did have to drill four new holes. Brilliant focuser and I modded it to a skywatcher electric focuser too. Great scope.
  21. Oh, thanks, I was a bit confused. Thanks for clearing that up for me.I had visions of the telescope tube being mounted on the inside of the mount. I'm a bit of a numpty, lol.
  22. Cool, thanks everyone, been looking on YouTube re: az gti. How does the scope cope with being the wrong way up. I don't understand what is meant when skywatcher says it's mounted on the other side? What happens to the 50mm finder guider?
