    Hello...

Hi @Kirby301 and welcome to SGL.
  2. My thoughts and prayers to the SGL'ers & non-SGL'ers of Australia 🇦🇺 that are affected by the bushfires.

  3. Hi @SimM / Simon and welcome to SGL. Looks to me you have answered your questions. I tend to leave everything uncovered/off. When I bring my 'scopes indoor from the outside, I remove all caps and let everything dry naturally. I sleep... and check all is OK before replacing when I am awake again.
  4. Betelgeuse is a slightly variable. It 'normally' averages +0.5 but estimates at the time of writing are saying that it is about +1.4 - to put it in to perspective... Sun -26.2 full Moon -12.5 Mercury -1.5 Venus -4.5 Mars -1.5 Jupiter -2.5 Saturn -2.0 Sirius -1.0 ...all magnitudes are approximate. So get a variable polarising filter in case it does go supernova in our lifetimes and reaches the same magnitude as the full Moon. Don't know why I still have ‘Champagne Supernova’ by Oasis doing the earworm thingy. note: the '+' symbol is not normally shown on star charts and/or other astro-publications and that the magnitudes that I have used are visual magnitude not apparent magnitude to avoid confusion.
  5. I use a variable polarising filter and/or neodymium, (not combined).
  6. Same here too from where I am... and before the coarse started. 😬
  7. Does this topic include kite-flying ? ...some kite-fliers do fly at night. 😜
  8. Congratulations @Adam Barnsley. Welcome to the TeleVue Nagler 13mm/Type 6 club. You are going to 'love' it.
  9. And another happy/satisfied 1.25 inch Lunt HW user here too...
  10. Hi @flyguy909 and welcome to SGL. I have the Celestron after reading the many reviews here on SGL and other forums. I use it with my C6/SCT... ...and with my 're-modded' ETX105, (images below)...
  11. Hi @DennyD and welcome to SGL. Looking at you images, I think yours maybe the older version. When you say, quote: "...Also where can I find the camera adapter cover? ..." - do you mean the threaded port where you have the 45 degree prism ? - if "Yes!" then www.scopestuff.com has them... http://scopestuff.com/ss_etxc.htm Below are images of my 're-modded' ETX105.
  12. Hi @Honcho41 / Paul and welcome to SGL. Another vote for Heritage or anything on a ‘dobsonian’ base. I prefer alt-az mounts because they take less time to set up and more time viewing.
  13. Just want to say "Thank you." in advance for all the advice. I think I have some small torx and allen bits, and will give it a try on my rest days.
  14. Hi all. Not sure if this the correct place. I have a damaged grub screw, (hex head), on my 're-modded' ETX105 focus knob and after any tips for extraction/removal ? BTW - I have hand drills & bits and other hand tools, but limited amount of workspace and no workshop/shed. Tnx in adv.
  15. The mounting/balance bar is part of of the ‘scope, TeleVue Ranger, as is the TV-60, and that is attached to the Vixen/Coronado/TeleVue dovetail bar - part number: AVT-1011. Very conveniently it fits in to the recess/saddle of the ball head mount, as do other Vixen type dovetail bars. Image below is from the TV-60 user guide/instruction/manual.
  16. Although I do not own the same 'scope as you, (SW250/f4.7), I would also go with the 13mm Nagler/Type 6. It's the one on the right! - the other two are a 13mm Plossl (left) and a 13mm Nagler/Type 1 (centre).
  17. I forgot to mention in my earlier post... ...that I use these two eyepieces with my C6/SCT... ...and I also use a 6mm Radian & 13mm Nagler/Type 6 with my other 'scopes and the C6/SCT. note: eyepiece images are not to scale.
  18. When you get to this scale, (see below), then you may encounter a problem...
  19. Had a couple of batteries for one of my two Nikon DSLR's delivered via DPD on Monday this week. Had a text on Sunday to say they would be delivered from 11:30 onwards on Monday. At 09:58 on Monday they were delivered.
  20. Hi @SimonGodfreyUK and welcome to SGL. In answer to your question, how old is the ‘scope? - I once owned a refractor that included a Moon filter that had a green tinge... it also used 0.965” e/p’s and accessories... now days 1.25” is the standard. When I view the Moon I use this type of variable filter ---> BTW - the Baader Neodymium is one of my most used, and I often refer it as my 'Swiss Army Knife' filter.
  21. Hi @Paz nice little 'grab & go' refractor setup you have. Below is my little 'grab & go' refractor, setup for solar white light solar observation in this instance, in the image below...
