  1. No reason not too! ...as long as it does not get too hot during the summer months.
  2. You could try Ray's Rings, (assuming he is still in business). He is/was based in/or around Peterborough. He made me a pair for my 're-modded' ETX105. They were 124mm, and I sold them on. However, if you want the cheapskate approach, you could always use a pair of Jubilee/hose rings which hold/secure the OTA to the dovetail bar in place and I now use, (image below). To prevent them scratching or marring the OTA, you will also need some and some strips of self-adhesive neoprene, cork or felt. Surprisingly it does work. The downside is you will not be able to rotate the OTA. edit: I did contact OOUK and was told that the smallest diameter they would be able to make was for 6"/150mm or above OTA's.
  3. TAL telescopes were very popular entry level 'scopes. If you can do some bartering with the seller, you may be in for a good one as they were built like USSR/CCCP military hardware. As previously mentioned, earlier models may not take 1.25" eyepieces and accessories. edit: Just found this online article/review http://www.opticalvision.co.uk/documents/65.pdf by Martin Mobberly.
  4. Hi @Davey-T is this what you are looking for?... https://www.omegon.eu/extension-reduction-adaptors/omegon-m48-female-ring-to-attach-two-m48-male-adapters/p,22011
  5. Nice set of images and some nice detail of the lunar rays coming from the Plato region, (third image).
  6. Just to add something else into the mix. Below are two comparisons, as I have a C6 & ETX105... OTA: C6 SCT ETX105 focal length: 1500mm 1470mm focal ratio: f/10 f/14 Almost identical focal length, but different focal ratio.
  7. I may have one, (unless anyone else has one), and If I do, it came from an Astro-Engineering table-top tripod. I can confirm over the weekend, as it is in my attic/loft, in a box with some PC parts, (don't ask why)! ...just seemed to be a good idea at the time. If it is there, I will send you a PM to confirm either way.
  8. Takahashi do tend to go OTT on packing boxes/cartons/materials that resemble a 'Matryoshka' / 'Матрёшка' doll.
  9. Hi @Swgogtrs / Tom and welcome to SGL.
  10. Last week I received some small/replacement parts for my Nikon D40x via... https://store.nikon.co.uk/discontinued-products-discontinued-dslr/d40x-nikon-camera-body/VBA170AE/details?focusAccessories=true#compatibleaccessoriestab eyepiece cap DK-5 rubber eyecup DK-16 hotshoe cover BS-1 I will not bore you with images, (they are shown in the link above)... each came in its own 2"/50cm x 3/8"/10mm square box... and posted/couriered in a box the size of a shoebox.
  11. Hi @Ags. I think you are close to the maximum load capacity using the AZ-GTi. The payload of the mount is 5kg / 11lb. http://skywatcher.com/product/az-gti-mount/
  12. I use this app on my Android OS tablets --->https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.grzyboo.MoonAtlas3D&hl=en
  13. Hi @Handy and welcome to SGL. In answer to you third question: "My end goal is to be able to take some photos with my DSLR through the telescope? " - What do you want to take images/photos of? - If you can answer this question then we can advise in depth. Unfortunately no telescope does all in this hobby.
  14. Please keep us updated. If you are in GB/UK 🇬🇧 it maybe worth visiting your local Citizens Advice Bureau/Trading Standards for further advice. [*] llc = Limited Liablity Company... https://sellercentral.amazon.com/forums/t/what-is-amazon-com-llc/127660
  15. Hi @BonnyMiss and welcome to SGL. Q. Is the red filter a 'SUN' filter ? - If "Yes!" please DO NOT use it. The reason is that the Sun's rays will converge at the focal point, generate heat and the glass will crack. You are safe using full aperture solar filter, (ready made or DIY), that will cover the objective cell/element.
  16. Guten Tag @NJO / Norbet und willcommen zu SGL.
  17. Hi @Bryan_D and welcome to SGL.
  18. Thank you for your concern @Louis D - looking at the 'scope mentioned in the intro by @Domcia, it is a refractor.
  19. Hi again @Domcia. With any solar safety film filter, they do need to be checked before each and every use for defects, i.e. pinholes, tears, etc... and if using glass solar filters, scratches as well. If you or your friend do see any, no matter how small... DO NOT USE IT. Alternatively you can make on yourself for about the same price as the one you have shown. Also if the OTA includes a finderscope, you will/would need to make one for that too, or keep the end caps on it, or remove it and just aim for it. There a dedicated solar finders too. The one on my OTA is the TeleVue Sol-Searcher. If you want to be safe then I would suggest investing in a Herschel Wedge, [only use with refractors], but you need to make sure it includes a built-in ND3.0 filter. Above is an image of my white-light solar setup - NOTE: the Herschel Wedge is nearest the camera.
  20. It is similar in appearance to the Meade ETX90/105/125 series... ...and orange instead of blue. The flip mirror is located in the rear plastic section on the ETX. I think the same is with the 4SE.
