  2. Nice image👍 I had a go at this object in 2009, using my kit at that time of Vixen R200SS and Atik camera. I was surprised to see what I thought were 2 extra arms of the spiral starting from half way up the centre. It took a lot of investigating to find that there are actually 2 galaxies one on top of the other: NGC4236-1 and NGC4236-2. Maybe this accounts for the extra arms. Geoff

  5. May I make a suggestion? Before puting all your gear together next time, give the camera lens face a quick clean with a lint free lens cloth. The black circles on your images are out of focus dust particles which is usually a sign that they are on the camera front. I only know this because I have the same problem!!😉 Geoff

  9. Had the same problem 10 years ago. The object was catalogued in the 1930's, but it wasn't given the correct location.🤨 I don't now remember the details but its given location works out as being in the centre of the Pelican Nebula !! which when you go to it, there is nothing there. A search of bright nebula catalogues should give you the answer. Geoff
  10. Thanks for the info. I should be able to get something then using my Tak Epsilon at f2.8 and my Bortle 5 skies. I think the only thing missing is the amount of data, I've only managed to gather 12x 300sec so far in O3 due to the cloud gods not playing ball!😫 Geoff
  11. Great image. Can you give me some more detail on the filters? I see you have the Astronomik NB but what are the bandwidths. My Baader 4.5nm doesn't seem to pick up the squid. Geoff
  12. I like your images but I prefer the first without the rainbow. You're right, it is quite faint at Mag 10, but what is interesting is that there is another galaxy that sits on top of it (NGC4236-2) at mag 15. I took an image of them both some 11 years ago with my Vixen R200SS. It took 23 hours in Luminance and my processing then was even poorer than it is now! But just to show how technology has improved since then, I have attached my image from then. I think yours with just 5 hours is far better then mine, and you're right that some more data will improve it further. Geoff
  13. Very nice image. Tracking looks spot on with 1800sec exposure for the OIII. Which one of the mounts did you use for this? Have tried this myself with a 6inch RC but only have a few hours on it..........not a patch on yours! Geoff
  14. Hi Carol, I think that is a great image, especially from Bortle 8 conditions. Not only that, but you have found the Geko even though it is nearly 1 degree north of the designated SH2-126 area. This is why it took me 2 years to find it!🥴 Geoff
  15. Adam, I'm going a bit blind I think! Just noticed you're using the ZWO CMOS camera. I'm still on the Atik CCD so I was really talking about CCD cameras. Have noted that they say the filter is also good for the CCD, so it looks like I may have to raid the piggy bank again!🙄 Geoff
  16. Adam, Really nice capture when you consider that according to the literature that is put out, this filter is too fast for the 180 Tak @f2.8! They recommend a minimum of 4.5nm, so look forward to seeing further images with the Oxygen filter as well. Geoff

  18. I agree with you Wim that the dark site is the most important. However, the data contained in the website ( https://www.cosmotography.com/images/small_ring_ngc5907.html) download PDF documentation page 22,shows 113.5 hours, not 11.35 hours. I think the decimal place has been put in the wrong place. Geoff
  19. Very nice image. Just looked up the details on the Wiki link. If you want to reproduce something like that you need a dark site, a 0.5 m telescope and a total exposure of 113.5 hours! Don't think I can manage any of those. Geoff
