  1. Very nice work Mike. As the disk has shrunk I have been finding it more difficult to see and fine details.

Hello and a warm welcome to the SGL.
  3. Another for the Nirvana. The extra FOV wins it for me.

    Hello

Hello and a warm welcome to the SGL.
  6. Sorry to hear that Jonathon. Hope Lunt can help you out.
  7. I think the main problem is the seeing conditions. Only when it is good can I get up to near 200x using using a SW ST 102 mm scope. Of course using my ED 120 makes things much easier.
  8. The proms were quite clear here. The seeing was really good and I think this might have made the difference.
  9. Some nice proms showing today and the seeing is better than of late. Couple of small filaments too. Added my rough sketch. Not very good but will give some idea of what’s visible.
  10. Hello and a warm welcome to the SGL.
  11. Congratulations on a successful first light with your Ha scope. We had clear skies here all day so I managed a good session with my Lunt scope. Unfortunately the seeing was not great, but better than nothing. The prom you saw was very active throughout the day and provided a good start for you. I does take a little time and practice to get your eye in. There were a couple of other proms visible but the were small and not spectacular. With the Lunt scope I sometimes have to change the pressure settings of the etalon to get good views of the surface details. To be honest the was very little showing on the surface today. When there are some good filaments or active regionals it will be easier to get your eye in.

    Hi

Hello and a warm welcome to the SGL.
  19. Hello and a warm welcome to the SGL. Just to add to Ed’s advice, remember to remove any finder you have on the scope and never leave it unattended, especially if there are kids about.
  20. Hello and a warm welcome to the SGL.
  21. Nice shot Charl. I watched that prom From11 until 5 pm and it was certainly starting to break up by the end of the session. Cloudy here at the moment but the forecast is for it to clear soon. Let’s hope so.
  22. Thanks for the heads up. As soon as the sky cleared I set up. The hedge grow is quite spectacular.
  23. Just back in from looking at these Charl. Very nice indeed.
