  1. I believe this is a known issue with the Sony's. Mark, sharkmelley if he is about could fill you in on this.
  2. Been reasonable here but only went out this Friday/Saturday night and the previous one. Here in the garden north is mostly obstructed but Friday it was high enough to give an hour window between next doors trees. Even in the LP after twilight it was fantastic, massive tail unaided, I'm happy to see one really good comet.
  3. I could'nt wring anymore out of it with the LP, just to bright.
  4. Time of photos was approx 23:04 and 23:11 UTC. I used my Star tracker as 70mm does'nt give very long before trailing. I found it could track to easily 60secs without trails and just sighting Polaris in the hole.
  5. Always useful to set east or west heavy, keeps gears engaged, does'nt need much. If I remember right counterweight slightly down the bar for east and slightly up to west. About half an inch from balance should do it.
  6. 70mm on a full frame works quite nicely. In my LP infested garden 35secs at f/4 ISO 800 seemed the best but I used a Ioptron Startracker so no star tracks.
  7. What a sight it must be without the LP. It's great to see so many having a go at the comet, first bit of AP that I have done in 2years. Only thing, I found out there is another ruddy great floodlight on a house two doors away, lights up several gardens. Think I'm sticking to my hamradio from now on the AP is a thing of the past. 🥴
  8. Checked other exposures and got a satellite right through the head. Believe the sat is Resurs P3 a near 6tonne Russian imaging satellite.
  9. Yer, had about an hour window then it went behind the yukka. It's very bright naked eye even with the LP, best I have ever seen unaided.
  10. Had to have a go at the comet and got a bonus of a satellite flare as well. I knew the LP was going to be a problem but quite pleased. Canon 6D MK2, EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II @ 70mm, f/4 ISO 800 with a 36sec exposure. The whole lot on my Ioptron Skytracker Pro loosely polar aligned.
  11. 1700 to 1900MHz is mobile phones up and downlinks. 800 to 900MHz is mobile as well. https://www.ofcom.org.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0020/114266/Frequency-Allocations-Mobile-and-Broadband-below-5-GHz.pdf
  12. Stopping down is just decreasing the aperture, in this case go from f/2.8 to say f/4 or 5.6 and this can sometimes cure the abberations.
  13. These star shapes are most likely normal for the lens. Sometimes called the 'flying bird' a mixture of coma and astigmatism. Often stopping down will correct some of it. As to the damage, it could be repaired but a red ring lens will most likely not be cheap. May be the owner has insurance?
  14. I have no problem using Nevada PSUs, Mike is well respected on the stuff he sells. I recently bought two expensive transcievers and with them came two free supplies. This type in fact https://www.nevadaradio.co.uk/product/nevada-psw-30/ One supply powers the two transcievers that are worth around 3grand and the other powers a geostationary satellite transciever plus an expensive 2.4ghz upconverter worth over 2grand.
  15. You will find lots of hot, dead and stuck pixels, imo normal. You should be able to fix most by doing a manual sensor clean. Make sure the camera has reached ambient temperature and switch to manual or bulb mode. Find menu item sensor clean do clean now. This will update the bad pixel map and should remove these pixels, remember to only shoot RAW as jpegs will not be updated. When you add a telescope you will no doubt stack multiple images, this will normally get rid of bad pixels during the stacking process.
  16. Your not the only one. Amateur radio has taken off as well and I understand most dealers are very busy. Been waiting for a portable hamradio transceiver that was supposed to arrive by now but been put back a few months.
  17. Agree, experiment and see if there is a difference
  18. A second or two for flats most likely ok with out darks, use a low ISO and a bright source.
  19. On Friday there was a major Sporadic E opening on 2metres that centred on central southern France. I missed it but it went on all day and right into the evening. May be this had something to do with it?
  20. Depends on what your electric supply is. If you have a metal pier it no doubt will be part of earth and will need bonding for safety. If your supply is TN-S the cable will need to be a minimum of 6mm². If it is TN-C-S it will need to be 10mm² If you happen to be TT, rare in modern properties, then just install an earth rod and make sure you have RCDs.
  21. There is also a floor area to take into account (50m²), an obsy not really a problem, plus what equipment is intended. Most obsy gear will more than likely be low power so not a real problem. Remember also a double socket is only 13amps split between both sockets not 26amps.
  22. There is no limit to the number of sockets on a radial, just make sure it's protected with a breaker no more than 20Amps when used with 2.5mm cable.
