  1. Hi, yes i have imaged without the filter and I do get a little red bloat but its not as bad as with the filter. The odd thing is looking at older images taken with the filter I get some halo but not half as bad as it seems to have gone on the recent images. It might well be my focus is not as good as I think. Need some good weather to try out some ideas!
  2. Had a look at the image once split into three channels, it shows the same problem on all channels. Not sure what to try next. I will have a go at getting better focus but I think my focus was not that bad. Just need some good weather to do some experiments.
  3. Thanks for the pointer, will have a little look at that today.
  4. Hi all, not sure if this is the right place for this but here goes. I went out with my rig the other night to try ang get some data on the Cocoon, all looked good untill I put it inti PI. the nebula looks ok but the stars seem to have halos around them. I can live with some but as I go to the corners they seem to go realy out of shape. I have had this problem for a while but looking back at my other images it seems to be getting worse. My rig is a Askar 400 with FR and im using an Optolong Extreme filter. I know that the filer has a rep for halos but I have had no real problems with it before. Here is some samples. Here is the main image Any ideas or is it just the filter? if so whats a better replacement? Thanks for looking.

V nice, I had a 72 for a while a few years back. Always called it my first adult scope! only got rid of it as I got a Askar 400 and it didnt get used much after that. Always found that it was a good reliable scope apart from a little issue with the focuser. Sorted that by putting a motor drive on it,
  12. I lost out on those clear nights due to my laptop having a hissey fit after some updates! think it was a puter head cold! hope yoyu get well soon.
  13. I was going to re do a lot of it but its out of my field of view, hopefully next year with better weather Ill get closer to your image.
  14. Brilliant result, knocks my effort on WR 134 out of the field!
  15. Thank you, I only posted the image as I was getting withdrawal symptoms.
  16. Thank you. Niether had i untill I was browsing Astrobin looking for something to image the other night. When WR 134 is done well it looks great, mine is not close to some of those images yet.
  17. After seeing some very nice images of this area I thought I would give it ago, well with a full moon and lots of cloud I got only 18 subs of 240s of those only 10 should have been used but I through them all in the pot! The target has now past my field of view so I cant add any more to it till next year so here is the result. Dont look to hard as the stars are pants! and the background is a little mowh! but it is what it is. I will make an effort to do better next time especially with those stars! As a bonus I did get the Tulip neb. Thanks for looking.
